    Trim Gauge on 2012 721

    2012 721 Phoenix w/ 2012 Mercury 250

I need some help/advice with the trim gauge on the console not reading correctly. Is there a way to reset/calibrate the gauge?

When the motor is trimmed down completely, the gauge will obviously show the pin at "down". When trimming the motor up it does not read accurately. When it should be reading 3/4 trim it shows around 1/4 trim on the gauge. When the motor is trimmed all the way up, it shows at 1/2 trim.

Anybody ever seen/experienced this? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Thanks!

My gauge reads right at 3/8 (reading it like a fuel gauge) at FT also.

Raise the motor almost all the way up so you can see the sender on the port side. If you have the round sender on the motor (2 wires), loosen the two screws to adjust the sender. Move the sender until you get the right reading. Snug the screws and check it again. You will probably have to run the motor up and down a few times to get the reading where you want it. Then tighten the two screws. If you have the three wire sender (it is digital), it has to be calibrated with smartcraft.

ok everything he said is correct on how to adjust it . on these boats when trimmed all the way up which is at the top of the trim rods the meter should read at half way or a little under. i couldnt get it to read right at half. so trimmed all the way up for running the boat should read at half. cause i called the dealer and had him go look at a floor models gauge. oh and also i had to remove my ground and put it between the sender and the motor. it wasnt grounding good the way the factory had it between the screw head and the sender. hope this helps.
