Question for all you PowerPole and Talon guys

So, I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of purchasing one of them and want to know if you think you it was money well spent. Do you guys find yourself anchoring down times other than bed fishing? Now that you have it, would you do it again? I want to make sure it is money well spent and more than just something that looks cool on the boat.
I was leaning towards the Talon but like alot people the garage is an obstacle. I have seen the tilt bracket on youtube but noticed it looks like it has alot play that would make it quite loud going down the lake. That would drive me crazy.
    Decisions, decisions!

    Tightlines,
    Eric

O had Power Poles on my last Phoenix, and the new Phoenix will have one for sure... maybe two.

Get with Jeff at the factory regarding the new style brackets available soon. (see other Power Pole thread in the Phoenix forum).

Power Pole just works for me. I don;t need to swap from one boat to another.. so that issue is moot.

I know some folks like the Talon just fine though.

Also, with the 2012 model Power Poles... if garage door height is a problem... just use their C Monster Smart Phone app, and lower the sticks (from your tow vehicle) as you are backing into the garage.

Are you guys installing these yourself?
If I were to go the Powerpole route, are most doing the signature series?
I assume I need the unit itself, bracket and fittings. Any other cost associated with putting a PowerPole on?

Signature Series has been discontinued. At least the 8 footer has. If you like the machined holes then you need to go to the Blade 8' or 10'.

The Pro Series II looks good also. But, does not have the machined holes.

IF you have an 8' Sig Series, Power Pole will still sell you one to match the one you already have though.

The Pro Series II and the new Blades, utilize the new C Monster remotes and smart phone app.

The original Signature Series does not... but they are VERY lightweight.

have a pair of 8ft pro series power poles on my 721. I can't imaging fishing without them. I could see if you fished in deeper water most of the time that they wouldn't be that beneficial but I live in Louisiana and fish in less than 10 ft most of the time so they have really helped me out several times.
Don't know about the talons but they wouldn't work for my garage since I have to drop the power poles a few inches to get the boat in or out

    Re: (Copydude)

Eric, I don't have power poles, but a couple on this forum have been fishing with me and they probably get sick of me exclaiming "I will I had a power pole!" every few minutes. I would use it/them for not only bed fishing, but for retying in the wind, docking, holding myself to thoroughly fish an area....

I was planning on buying one this year, but child #2 is on the way so I've got to save my pennies.

Re: Question for all you PowerPole and Talon guys (SHOboat719)

Put a set of power poles on my boat last year, didnt really think I needed them but Gary told me to try them so I did and can't imagine being without them now. If you can swing it put 2 on 1 is good but 2 are great. I use them just about every trip to the lake, was fishing a drop last week in 30 ft water wind was howlin run the poles down its like throwin a parachute out. If you fish any standing timber you can run them down in the trees to hold you in place. I use them crappie fishing trim motor up back boat into bank fish off nose. If you fish by yourself much they are great unloding and loading. As you can tell I like my power poles. As far as talons go I can't say because I haven't used them.

The new poles are wireless and are supposed to be very easy to install. Get with Rich at Hydrilla Gear and he will fix you up. I installed my Pro Series poles and they weren't to bad. The toughest thing was fishing the wires from the front deck to the back for my foot switches.
