Guys I appreciate all the calls and emails asking which boat show we are going to this year! We have decided to do a couple of in house shows with seminars and the works while serving all of our guests a good meal. We feel we can give more back to our customers,friends, and prospective buyers this way!! Boat shows are very quickly becoming a thing of the past as promoters want rediculous fees for dealers and vendors, charge what i feel are unfair admission fees, and absolutely rip everyone on food and drinks. Doing an in house show we will be able to offer any prospective new bird owner the oppurtunity to actually demo ride before the purchase if so desired. I will be announcing the dates for our in house shows very soon. Thanks once again to all of those that have asked

I agree they're a thing of the past. When I was a kid in GA, we used to go to the Atlanta boat show every year, and you'd see some truly awesome boats; Norris Crafts, Gamblers, Allisons and hundreds of the other more popular brands. Now the ATL boat show is at least 90% pleasure and ski boats, and we all know those are basically good for nothing.

I was temporarily relieved when I moved to Birmingham in 2007 and found they actually had a decent boat show. I got to see a few brands that I hadn't really seen before because they weren't popular in GA. But I went last year, and it was pitiful. It wasn't as bad as ATL, but it paled in comparison to that 2007 show.

Bingo!! We have been doing the same thing for the last 4 years and it has worked great. I couldnt believe how much it was to rent a spot at the boat show, its CRAZY!!

We use to love going to the boat shows, meeting all the great people, gabbing about boats and fishing…………it’s just not feasible anymore.

Yep. Boat shows were a great concept -- multiple dealers and vendors in the same place at the same time. But, I agree that it seems to have gotten too expensive for everyone -- dealers and consumers. Too bad that there isn't a "grass roots" show with a straightforward venue organized by people witha genuine interest, rather than a promoter in it to just get a (big) cut....

Sounds like a good decision I bought my boat at an open house, got a good deal and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Good luck with it
