How many of you bought your Phoenix without riding in one or seeing one in person? I am considering taking this route and wondered what other people's experiences have been. Thanks!

1st off, welcome to thew BBC!!!
I have no doubt you would be satisfied w/ a Phoenix boat sight unseen, they are a great boat w/ many attributes. That said, I wouldn't recommend it. There are many things about a bass boat that make them subjective to the purchaser. Surly you can find one to take a test fish in before you buy??
My first time in a Phoenix was before I bought it, but just barely!

i bought mine without seeing or riding in one first. i did a lot of research on here and anywhere else i could find. i figured i couldn't go wrong with any of the top brands but after seeing how phoenix was made and how a lot of guys were coming over to phoenix from those brands i knew i had to have one and i couldn't be happier. i have yet to see another one up in my area and i kinda like the fact that i have something different from all the other guys as well. if you have questions about a phoenix this is the place to ask. there are a lot of guys on this board that know all about them and would be glad to help out.

Tightlines,

I also bought mine without riding in one. I did look at one at the dealer. Best decision I have ever made. I have owned Ranger and 2 Tritons and the Phoenix is the best.
I've ridden in a Phoenix 721. They ride and handle well, much better than you think.
Now having said that, back in '03 I ordered a Triton TR19 never having taken a lake test or demo ride. Huge mistake. The boat was a dog, hard to drive, and rode in rough water like a log wagon but I didn't know this until I drove another boat for comparison. Talking about feeling like you got ripped off. . . .
So, even though you may "think" you want a particular boat, ride in a few different brands for comparison so you'll really know. Phoenix is a good ride for sure though and a demo ride will reinforce your decision.

The first time i ever laid eyes on one in person or even touched one was 11 weeks after i ordered one. It made for a very magical moment when i went to pick it.
I have zero regrets. What an amazing craft.

First heard and saw Phoenix on TV (Fishing University?) and saw one in person when taking previous rig in for repair. First thing I noticed was the sharp line look, instead of a tub. Fit, finish and layout were the reasons for ordering a Bird two days later. The great ride was a bonus I didn't expect! My 619 has a better rough water ride than the 20 and 21 footers from the past. Love my Phoenix!![]()

Thanks for all the support fellas! I definitely want to get a demo ride in but its hard to take two or three days and do that and a factory tour. Long drive down south since there are few dealers and/or birds up in this region. I've been in constant contact with Junior and we are trying to work it out so that this might all work out in the end.
Also thanks for the warm welcome! I know you all have some great knowledge of these boats and I can't thank you all enough for helping me out with questions and hopefully getting me in a bird soon!![]()
I'll never forget the first time I saw the 721 they had at D&D in Athens, AL. I climbed all over it thinking about how I had to have a Phoenix. A few weeks later I went up to Tullahoma and Jeff gave me a tour of the factory which totally sealed my fate. I just had to wait on the 18' model so it would fit in my garage. When they unveiled the 618, I immediately ordered one in the same color scheme as the 721 I initially saw at D&D.
I waited over 11 weeks, picked up the bird and went straight to Guntersville for my first ride in a Phoenix. I had my wife with me who was 7 months pregnant at the time, and we got the first 2 hours of break in out of the way. Despite it being a busy Saturday in May, she didn't complain about the rough water at all, just the heat so we had to leave earlier than I would have liked.
But my boat is definitely everything I wanted and more!
I had not ridden in the 619 but I took a quick ride in 721 I had my old TR20 on the lake the same day and I was hooked. I was a little nervous the ride would not be as good since it was shorter than the 721 but once I had it one the water it greatly surpassed even my highest expectation.
I would recommend trying to ride in one or at least see one in person to make sure it is what fits you.
I had not seen or ridden in one . I had heard of them and was interested in finding out more about them. My buddy and I drove over to the factory on a Tuesday. Jeff gave us the tour. I have been to several boat builders and none impressed me more than the Phoenix I found one on line that Jr had at Sportsmen Center I took my Stratos over on Friday and traded on the spot Ive had several bass boats over the last 30plus years None of them come close to the Phoenix in performance or Quality & looks good too It fishes great and the ride is awesome I cant say enough about it![]()
