721-250 SHO Settings: 10" Atlas Hydraulic Jackplate

I have read a couple of posts touching on this subject will doing searches, but I'm hoping to get some more specific information.

What settings are you guys using? I have the digital JP gauge and tried settings from 8 up to 14 today with negligible differences.

Nathan, I have a merc 250 on the 10" atlas hyd plate. I run mine at the 6 setting for normal cruising, fishing, etc. Translates to about 3 1/2 in below the pad. I run at 14 setting for best speed at wot. Translates to about 1 1/2 in below the pad. No problems with loss of water pressure. At the 6 setting I have a best of 76.80 mph. At the 14 setting I just ran 78.23 mph. That is fully loaded, one person, with all of my tackle and gear, 3/4 tank of gas, and livewells empty. My 721 handles and turns better at the 6 setting.

Nathan my present/past rig was just about like alabamaphoenix's rig. But I will be able to help you out in more detail in about 4 wks when my new one arrives.
My guess would be the SHO should be able to get the same speeds as a 721 w/ProXS with lower JP settings, but that is just a guess right now, until I get my new one broke in and can start playing with it. Also right now with the price of gas I would emagine most ppl will be looking for the more economical settings rather than WOT.

Thank you both for the responses - I know I just have to get out there and fiddle with it more, but was just wanting a starting point. It's getting near time to forget about a few mph here and there and focus on fishing!
