Hey guys, in my 19' tin boat, I was using dual Optima group 34 batteries with a Motorguide Digital Tour Series TR82. Are the batteries sufficient for the 719? Does anyone run the giant group 31 Optimas?

Go with the 31's on the Phoenix, and depending on the electronics you get would be smart to use 31 for the starting battery as well. Why get the smaller size when you can get bigger and not have to worry about power loss no matter what the weather does.
3 boats back I gave up on Optima's due to having a couple replaced.
Now I run Deka's and am real happy with them and getting their gel batteries in my new rig, Oh and Deka's are made in the good ol USofA
Either or make sure you match your on board battery charger to what type of batteries you get (wet or gel). But am kinda sure by now all brands of battery charger will charger both types.
Oh one more thing; not sure of the exact number but almost all batteries are made by a few manufacturers.

I like the Sears Platinum PM1. AGM with three year full replacement warranty. I have 4 in my 721/250 SHO. These are the big boys!

My ectronics will be the HB1198 and 998, two power poles, all of the water pumps of course, and the hydraulic jack plate.... and the MG TR82.

... so you are thinking three of the jumbo group 31's? That's alot of battery weight!

Trolling motor will only be using (2) Two Batteries where as everything else will be off your starting battery..........so you best get the biggest dam one you can get your hands on. Deka makes a monster, but I can't remember the part #.

Your Electronics, (HB 1198 uses a lot) Hyd. JP, live well pumps, bulge pumps, lights & Power Poles are running off your starter battery.
Almost forgot you motor ProXS computer never stops is always drawing a minor amount of juice 24 hrs a day.

As eddavisky said, all of your equipment will be running off your starting battery. Get the biggest battery! Reduce weight with conventional wet cells for the trolling motor batteries if you need to. You will save approximately 40-50 lbs.

Personally, I don't like water maintenance and I like the idea of totally sealed, high shock resistant batteries for marine use. That's why I went with all PM1's.

If you are racing, remove all the batteries... if your fishing...get good batteries especially the starting battery. Also, refer to the SHO manual for their size recommendations for a battery.

P.S. remember... your bilge pump runs off of your starting battery.... leak...no engine...small battery....sink!

All great points. Thanks guys! I too like sealed glass mats. The optima blue tops have been amazing for me. So three giant group 31's should do the trick. Will they for sure fit?

The group 31 Optima was "recommend" in that test. I will get the three group 31's

After just having to replace the $234 starter on my motor because of low voltage starting (wally world grp 29) I put one of the Sears PM1 in and I could sure tell the difference in how quick and nice my OLD motor started on the water all day today!

Do any battery trays come with the boat??

Yes they do. However contact them if you are going all group 31. The standard is group 27.

for all the equiptment ur putting on that boat and especially fishin in all that grass in florida u should really consider a 36 volt motor. u will never want a 24 volt again! huge huge difference

run a battery disconnect on starting batt, I have it wired so when "OFF" it no power to anything, had a trim switch go bad one year on a boat in a rain storm and got lucky as it when up and not down but had to unhook battery once I got the motor toter back in place (held trim switch on Opti til it was tight and unhooked batt) I now run a batt disconnect on all our boats. As said above the trickle of power on a Opti will run a battery down if it sets awhile unless u have a batt disconnect.
