I had mine of Ky Lake this week, wind was blowing hard and it was rough in places, I had no trouble running 60 or so, no matter how rough it got. It would leave the water every once in a while, but it sits back down really smooth. My 04 Triton I had would leave the water and just smack back down and jar you hard, the Phoenix is nothing like that. It amazed me at how well it handled waves. My wife hated my Triton because it scared her going through waves, she was with me this weekend and said it felt so much safer! Just my experience.
how big were the waves? What about waves rolling over the back or side while fishing? I can run 60 pretty good in my 21x2. Would the water come over the bow when fishing?
I've never had water come over the bow, I've definitely never had water come into the boat while fishing. The only time I've had any water come over the boat is if I stop abruptly I might have some come over the back from backwash.
I tell you what Jon, I should have my 721 in the next month. If you show me around the bay one day we'll put her to the test. Never fished over there and always have wanted to. I'm too much of a river rat and a little leary of "big" water. Just need to see how it's done.
It's a deal. But I don't know very much on the bay. I'll show you what I can. I'd love to ride in one. We'll have to IM each other when the summer comes. The big girls are very shallow at times and nail top water baits.
Was in 2 footers all day Saturday thanks to a 204 boat tourney I was in along with some HUGE cabin cruisers as we had a 70+ degree day so the cabin fever hit the pleasure boaters and it was mayhem.
This boat ran across them with no problem at all with me and my partner, fully loaded with fish in both boxes and a full tank of gas and when we got done making an 11 mile run he said to me, man this boat is amazing, the ride is jut not to be believed.
And I said, yeah I know, now let's go catch em'!
We did and we were dry as well as safe.
These boats are that damn good!

Lake Conroe here in Texas gets a lot of "standing" waves from sea walls, wind and wakes. The lake is very "Lumpy"... at times.
The Phoenix handles it great. I had experienced both the Bass Cat Pantera and Puma which are known for rough water handling...They did ride well ...However, in my limited opinion the Phoenix is much better with handling, control, and softer ride! We are talking moderate speeds here which is what you should be doing in the rough stuff anyway.
Don't worry about the Phoenix in the rough stuff!
