    power pole?

What's the verdict on the power pole? I see the elite guys running two, one, and zero. What are everyones thoughts on them?

Is there a reason not to have two of them other cost?

Do they get in the way of casting? That's the only drawback I can figure might be an issue...

    Thanks.

They don't get in the way of the dude on the front deck!

I have one and like it. If there is wind or current, one Pole will let your boat turn unless you constantly tap the trolling motor to readjust. Two Poles will keep you planted much better.

They do get in the way sometimes for the guy in the back. If you are worried about your co-angler having a tough time casting, have the Pole mounted on the port (passenger) side. Consider that MOST folks are right handed and passenger side mounting will lessen the interference.

I have one on my river boat and I love it. It is the DEAL for fishing in current. It only takes a few minutes for whoever is fishing off teh rear deck to get used to it. Its no different than the engine sticking up back there. I mounted mine on the port side so it would be easy for me to keep an eye on it when I am running. I can just glance over my shoulder to make sure its alright.

My 11 year old daughter fishes off the rear deck and she hasnt hit it yet. Had my 6 year old son back there yesterday and he only hit it once.

I've got 2 Talons ordered on the Phoenix. Our club fishes large and small lakes. I can easily unhook the Talon from my big boat and slap it on the small boat.

I'm putting one Talon on mine. I really wanted two but I'm gonna wait and see how the first one works first.

With one pole anchored; it should hold the back end of the boat in place; but not the front end. The wind can cause your front end to swing side to side. Less chance of that occurring with 2 poles anchoring your boat.

    I bought mine in 2009

1st tournament with them....wind blowing 10-15 on a bed fishing tournament.

Later that same year...found a grass bed with laydown timber mixed in the grass (heavy aligator grass) I pulled up next to the bed locked down and proceeded to pick apart this bed one tiny opening at a time...I could have never given this spot that much attention trying to stay on the trolling motor. 3rd place

Then to cap the year off. With a constant 15-20 mph north wind 2 ft rollers constant.....I could stay on the lead side of flooded cedar trees and repeatedly pitch a jig over and over to the same location without ever having to get on the trolling motor..that was the key bite and what landed me as this

With out thinking twice I know for a fact that powerpoles played a huge part in these finishes. I still had to catch the fish but it sure makes it easier when you hook one fish in a windy spot and then lock down the boat to pick it apart.

When I started to ask guys that owned them what they thought, I kept getting 1 is great....2 would be awesome.

I had to correct my earlier reply. I got Starboard and Port mixed up. Guess I should just stick with Driver and Passenger side!

Love my one, but really want 2, had a tough decision to make between another pole or SI, I went with the SI for now.

Double up if you can. Spinning around in circles in the wind and using the TM defeats the purpose of not spooking fish or trashing an area with mud blow out.

My $.02... Usually not worth that however!
