Most come with the 27 Yamaha ventless. The next size down is a 25 if you are really heavy. I think most stick with the 27.
I have read some posts where there was good success with a 26 Fury.
It's all a matter of weight!
I like the idea of the 27 as it helps to prevent overspeed which i think is essential for 4 strokes.
Tried both and stuck with the 27p Yamaha Ventless prop on my rig. Working great regardless of load. 25p did not make that much of a diff for me other than robbing me of some top end.
Hole shot plate with the 27p balanced out the hole shot overall so the net net is that the 27p is better for this boat in my book and also 2MPH faster!![]()

Just curious, but what numbers are you seeing? Do you have a manual or hydraulic jackplate?
I run with an 8" T&H Manual JP and a hole shot plate in it which I have my structure scan transducer now mounted to.
Top end on my rig is 77.4 GPS with just me and 1/2 tank of gas. RPM's are about 5750
Fully loaded I'm just above 74 MPH GPS with 2 guys and water in both boxes.
My top end with the 25p was 75.7 and RPM's were 6100. The hole shot seemed better until I put on the hole shot plate and the 27 and 25 hole shot feels about the same to me and the 27 is faster on top end for sure and I don't risk hitting the limiter.

10-4 Thanks for the info, I have a 721 coming with the 250 SHO and can't wait to try it! That's strokin for a 21' boat!
10-4. You put a 10" Atlas hydro plate on that rig and I bet you can touch (or get real close to touching) 80MPH GPS with that 27p running medium to light.
Yep, for a 21 foot boat that rides/handles as smooth as this boat does, that's flyin' low to the ground.
