Found problem with water Pressure gauge

in case anyone else runs into this, the water pressure tube connects to a " sender" mounted in the console directly above the steering column.. it's a little cylinder with two wires coming off the top.. the problem was where the hose connects to the sender there is a tiny hole .. it was cloggged, i used a needle to unclog it..
havent tested it yet but am sure this was the problem..
to test the gauge just simply remove the two wires from the sender and touch them together, the gauge should jump all the way up when touched..
thought i would share in case anyone else has this issue

Most all the water pressure guages I have ever seen have a bellow that the water pressure pushes to move the needle. The wires where just for the lights.

This is good to know about the electric sending unit.

Mine doesn't work either. Tried a new sender, no luck then I found the hose was pinched between the motor housing and battery cable, fixed the kink and still no go. I saw your post and test the gauge and it does work. I'm going to blow compress air into the engine end of the hose and see what happens on the sender end. I wonder if the sender works on air pressure?

My gauge sprang a bad leak a couple of months back, and it turned out to be a cracked fitting; where the hose connects to the sender. I got Mark to send me another one and all is well now.
