tempest Plus problems on merc 225 Opti please help

I bought a new to me boat this week and I think it has a spun hub. When trying to get on plan it starts to have a vibration and when the bow just starts to come back down to level off the motor over revs and hits the limiter. When I pulled the prop the hub kit has a couple cracks on the inside, and the end with the pressed in washer that sits on the thrust washer the square plastic piece comes out and I don't think it should. The prop is a tempest plus 26p. And the motor is a 2002 225 opti on a 20' 2006 triton. I'm hoping you guys can help me figure it out I can take it back to the dealer I bought it from but and they will make it right but I really want to drive it and not have to pull it an hour back to the dealer for a 20$ part.

The hub needs changed because of the condition its in. Your problem is prop is venting to much. Need to know what boat and motor setup your running. With out noing anymore about your rig i would say you need one large plug in that tempest and the other 2 open and set your prop to pad at 3.5 inches

Good deal thanks for the help. That is how the prop is set up now. The boat is a 2006 Triton TR 200 DC with a 225 Optimax - Not Pro XS. I also just got off the phone with the dealer and they confirmed that they are 90% sure the hub is spun and that is the set they use for that hull and motor. I'm going to drive down and pickup the new hub kit and test it all out after work. Thanks again for your help and your verifying the same thing the deal said make me feel alot better. If that hub kit is is the final fix I will own 4 new one, two I keep in the truck and two in the boat.

If it's a broken hub kit you only need one extra. They don't spin like a rubber hub and the prop had to hit something to break it. They cost more than $20 closer to $50 but don't break very often.

I had a 225 opti once, and it hated the 26 tempest. I could never just pin it outta the hole, it always slipped a little once the bow broke over, and you had to pedal it. I was told that adding cup would help, as no amount of plugs would stop it, they would only slow down the holes hot, with same slippage at bow break. I tried moving motor up and down, and all plug options. Could be hub, definatley, but I bet you just have to "pedal it" a bit once that hub is fixed.

26 Tempest is notorious for not being a good prop out of the box. That being said, when I had a 225 Opti on my 2000 TR21, the 26 Tempest, after a B&B by Mark Croxton was the best prop I ever ran. I tried over 10 props on that rig. 73.8 GPS, two people, 1/2 tank, tourney rigged and one livewell half full!

I second this, gained 3mph after Mark worked my 26 tempest.

I have the same year, tr200 with 225 opti. One medium hole pvs plug and othe two holes open. Only difference is I'm swinging a 27 tempest. You will have just a slight blow out as the bow is coming down after you come out of the hole. At least I do.

if you don't play with the plugs on a tempest prop you will not get the results you want, with all out= would not come on plane nose over and spin 2 large in real slow on hole shot finally 1 large plug and boom perfect what I am saying the plugs make one heck of a difference just be ready to play with them trying different combo on them got a lot of help from mark and mdtritn21
