    weight distributing hitch

I am getting close to getting a deal down for a Z9. Right now I have a chevy trailblazer with a gtw hitch rated for 4000lbs. Which is pretty close to the rigs weight. Anyone using a weight distributing hitch? From what I can tell it will do the trick, but not sure how they stay on the trailer without someone "borrowing" them when I am on the water.

    Thanks

    Re: weight distributing hitch (pop)

I am not sure of the weight of your trail blazer but i think the boat will out weigh your tow vehicle but any way I would suggest you get an air bag suspension put on it you can very the air to the bags and keep the vehicle level and with trailer brakes you should be alright and not have to worry about the borrowers while on the water

Re: weight distributing hitch (tracy shannon)

Based on google and the nitro website, the blazer will outweigh the nitro by ~ 500 lbs.

I have never seen anyone use a weight distributing hitch for a bass boat, but you may need to to be able to stay within the weight limits on the trailblazer.

You might want to look at a 5000 lb rated hitch, as the towing capacity of a 4x4 trailblazer is 5200 lbs, about 1000 lbs more then the nitro weighs.

You need to look at your owners manual, and see what you can tow. Engine size and 2x4 or 4x4 changes these numbers.

yes you are right on the weight s but the z9 has a fuel capacity of 66 gallons and advertised weight is not tx load weight with gas and tackle and so forth 500 lbs goes the other way pretty quick ( i am just saying )

And the curb weight listed for vehicles is the bare bones model, with no fuel, no cargo, and no passengers/driver.......so you have to add all that as well......so there's another 700 lbs or so of weight to the truck..............................

    Re: weight distributing hitch (TRCM)

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Never thought about just upgrading the hitch to 5000lbs. The truck can tow a max of 5200, so the higher rated hitch should do the trick.
