    Z7 length

What is the length of a 2011 Z7 with motor down and swing away folded?

    Re: Z7 length (Jiggumup)

I fell pretty confident in the package lengths posted on the website. 21' 9"

That's what I was curious about. I've seen some real life info differ greatly than what is on manufactors pages. Did the listed length include a jackplate? Don't see that anywhere

    Re: (dchance)

Is that with motor up or down, swing away straight or folded?

    Thanks

folded swing away and motor down. I stll have room to walk around the front of it too. I had a 2003 901 that was just a hair longer than the Z7 that fit too if you can find the length of that.

I used to have a 901. How would you compare the overall performance of the 901 with the Z7? Which one do you like better?

    Re: (Royjulius)

901 felt bigger and probably handled rough water a tad better, but was slower. I love both boats. I have a Z7 with a 200proxs and it is quick. performance wise isn't even close. fires out of the hole midrange jumps and wot is much faster. I like the storage and fishability of the 901 a little better, feels like a "big" boat.

Overall I think i like the Z7 better. fit and finish are better than my 03 901 was and I feel it is more reliable.......may be bias though b/c it is a newer boat.

that is an unfair question, although Derek has owned both boats, he never had the 3.0L 200hp motor on his 901, which would have probably changed his mind and he would have never gotten rid of it. LOL

the 3.0L motor brings the boat to another level. I had a 3.0L motor on my 901 and let me tell you, she rocked and rolled. I was doing 67 - 68mph with no issues, this was with a full tank of gas (57gal tank) and a fishing partner and full livewells. I think that the two boats would be relatively compared to like the Z8 is to the Z9 with the same 250hp engines

    Re: (mpino)

Derek's Z7 has been to the mid seventies. Don't think a 901 would do mid seventies with a 225 pro.

    Re: (transamz9)

well aside from Nitro Bob who I think has a 200 pro xs, but no jackplate, i think ?

soo the question is, are we comparing apples to apples???
all other 901's have been posted as having the 2.5L V6 200hp motors, it's like sayin how fast will the Z7 go with a 150hp motor ???

    Re: (mpino)

not true, most newer model 901s have an opti which is a 3.0 motor. Typically the 2.5s you see are 2003 or older. typically. All 200 optis are 3.0 liters.

He asked my my opinion and I gave it to him. Nothing against the 901s as they are very sweet rigs. I just like my Z7 better......maybe because it is my first new boat and its my baby

901 left a bad taste in my mouth due to little things going wrong more frequently, pumps, lights, guages stop working, nothing really Nitro related, but started to nickel and dime me.

    Re: (dchance)

To answer OPs question, My Z7 in a 24 ft garage has about 6" in the back of room and about 12-14" in the front of space. Tight fit.

    Re: (dchance)

I have nothing bad to say about the Z7's I have never been in one or driven one to compare, and since the Z8' and Z9 are just way overpriced than a Z7, and due to the size, unless I get a bigger house with a bigger garage, or come into more disposable income, I might be headed to a Z7 as well,

Glad I keep hearing good things about the Z 7's and 8's and 9's cause the more they sell, the more of them that will be avail as resale later on.

    Re: (mpino)

Thanks for the replies, sorry about the massive hijack. but I have to ask mpino, when you say you could do 67-68 mph with the 3 litre, was that on the speedometer, or gps?

    Re: (Royjulius)

901's with opti's are consistently a mid 60s' or so rig. some more some less. I am sure it is GPS speeds. due to the extra low end torque the 3liters have you can prop them higher and thus get more out of them on top end.

Roy...hijack away! I think we are both looking for the same things out of a boat

Anyone have overhead pictures of a 901 to compare to a Z7?

    Re: (Jiggumup)

the 901 has the same storage layout as the 929 just shorter. The storage of the 9 series boats is phenominal. The livewell system is awesome too. It has dual guardian livewells with separate pump systems as opposed to one large divided livewell.

here is a 929 but the 901 is the same only a shorter boat.

    Re: (dchance)

Yeah between a 901 and a Z7 livewells would be one major factor, 901s had superior livewells, basically the same livewells that is on the Z8 and Z9 minus the oxygenators.

Remember also the 9 series was Nitros top of the line thru 2006 MY, The 901 was in that class of boats. Based on the same hull as other 9 series.

The package length does not include a 6" JP.
