It's not that. Runs up on the trailer just fine, all the way to the bow stop. But then the dang bow eye is so far up under the boat, it's a bitch to reach while standing on the trailer tongue. Next time I'm gonna try what Gamblinman said, lay down and reach under.

Where did you get the 2 speed winch? Is it a lower gear then the reular winch?
Steve, google fulton 2 speed winch there are plenty of companys that sell them. I bought mine for $120.00 and no the winch that come standard with the trailer is a 16oo lbs winch the 2 speed is good to 3200 lbs
I just winch the strap down to where the spare tires lies at and set the hook in there. I can hook it there, and the winch it the rest of the way so I am not power loading the boat on the trailer...I can usually stand out of the water to do it.... but I also have a 6'6 wing span as well.
