[QUOTE=Crankn; It turns out it was either the same office as b.a.s.s. or a related office. I explained to him that I never agreed to any lifetime subscription and I asked why they sent a collections letter. He went into a sales pitch trying to get me to sign up! They sent me a fake collections letter to get me to pay for a subscription I never agreed to. [/QUOTE]

Has B.A.S.S really stooped to this kind of low to stay alive with memberships?

NO, Because there is nothing in that magazine that is worth reading. Just Basic things any fishermen already knows. If you fish tournaments, there is NOTHING worth reading that will make you a better fishermen.

They called me last week with a 'fantastic' offer for a 5 year membership. When I explained that I was already a member and was paid up for a couple of years AND that a five year membership was probably a lifetime for me (I'm 73) but thanks for thinking of me .......... However, I have been a memer since the beginning and really wish I had bought a lifetime membership when they first offered it. If you are young (under 60) I'd think about it.

Back in 1988....used $100 coupon on the $300 Lifetime subscription ($200). Received a hat, ring, journal, belt buckle, license plate, etc. ALSO, received Lifetime subscription to B.A.S.S. Times...Free. The hat is the only item I no longer possess. Surely, the best deal they ever had for the Lifetime membership.

They count to 3 and then set the hook. I just did the 5 year, if I find myself renewing after that, I will probably do the life thing.

Been a life member since 79. Just remember lifetime membership is the lifetime of the organization not yours, got burned on a lifetime membership when another organization folded.

Wife gave me a lifetime membership for my birthday back in the 90's. Bass Times is still a good read and the magazine is not half bad, but the content has gone down. Haven't been called to renew in a while, but the last time, I ask them how many lifetime subscriptions does a fellow need?

Been a life member for over 15 years now. Back when it was $350 I believe. I had been an annual subscriber. Thought it was a lot back then but would be worth it in the long run and I was correct. Bassmaster mag, Bassntimes, belt buckle, and the Classic.

    I joined in 1974. Was a member until like 2009? 35 years.

The magazine started getting lame and thinner. Way too much advertising.
You didn't get Bass Times as an add on, it wasn't even offered on lifetime memberships. I got Bass Times for a few years. Mostly Federation news and tourney results. Meh....
The renewal gift packs started getting pathetic as well. I've got about 3-4 cool belt buckles I got over the years on renewals as well as hats. You'd barely get a few cheap lures and a 100yd spool of line in the end.

How much longer do you guys think they will even still print a magazine?? Will the life time membership eventually end up a link to a members only section on a website ??

I'm the treasurer for my club of about 30 members and am pretty busy in the spring making sure the roster is up to date once their club dues are paid. Quite a bit of work actually but really enjoy our club and members so it is all worth while.
Ive been a Life member since 1994 and don't belong to any club and I get my Bass Times every month on the same day as my Bassmaster Mag never a missed issue. One of the best deals my wife ever got for me cost her 300.00 back then.

How did a thread from 2013 get resurrected? I can't find posts that I know started this year.
