Trolling motor stopped working..any help would be appreciated

The boat is a 2004 Gambler, the trolling motor is a 36 volt Motorguide. Im pretty sure this is the stock trolling motor that came with the boat from the factory.

The trolling motor worked fine but then we had a couple months of snow so the boat sat.

The boat was covered the whole time, the batteries are fully charged but the trolling motor wont even turn on.

Took the boat out for the first time yesterday and everything works great but no Trolling Motor..any info would be appreciated.

Try resetting the breakers on your trolling batteries.

Do you have power at the plug?

check the connector where the TM plugs in. Buying a meter is deffinitly worth it....

So today I went and checked to see if there was power at the plug, there is, I took the trolling prop off to see if it was clear of line or debris, it was.

I plugged the Trolling motor back in and it came on for a second, then shut off. I kept doing this and each time it would stay on longer.

I turned the speed control and it works, I clicked over from constant on, monetary on, bypass ..the constant works and monetary.

The weird thing is, this Trolling Motor shouldnt be getting power unless the Master switch is on..this sucker stays on with or without the switch on.

Now the problem is the trolling motor wont shut off..it stays on all the time so im thinking I have a bad switch.

sound like im on the right track?, did something get wet?

The Model is TR-109P 36 volt

Maybe if I keep working the foot switch it will unstick itself..should I spray some WD-40 on it?

TROLLING MOTOR is NOT connected to the MASTER SWITCH....
you've got a bad switch on the trolling motor....take it to a Motor guide service shop if it keeps giving you trouble, before you burn the motor up...

Alright cool, at least I dont need to buy a new trolling motor.

A switch is something I can order and replace myself.

Right now I have it unplugged so im not worried about burning anything up.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated

GO under the ELECTRICAL/WIRING/TROLLING MOTORS board and let them know whats going on....its 2 or 3 guys on there, that can possibly save you some time/money...
