Padding or no padding with new carpet?

What do you guys think? Padding or no padding under a new carpet job? Does the Bass Cat carpet work as a good replacement for our boats? Will the hatches close? The Bass Cat is 27 so I am guessing it is very thick and high quality. They sell it in a roll in 6ft width at length of your choice. Thanks !

I don't know about padding, but there used to be a mat that Bumble Bee had that was very nice. It was a honeycomb shaped rubber pad and they called it Pro Tec. I knew a guy who worked for them and installed it on his front deck. He was an older gentleman and had a tough time standing up fishing 6+ hours. He said that after he installed it, he could fish 8 hours standing up with no problem. I am pretty sure that Phoenix Boats (931-455-2014 - formerly Bumble Bee) still sells the pads so I would give them a call and ask them. I know that whenever I recarpet my 2100, I am going to do my best to have it installed.

I know I would want the padding if I put new capret in the boat....recess the TM pedal too is it isn't already...if you bought a 2000 model, I think it already is....just sayin'....

As a former BCB owner, pad your deck! Its makes a huge difference!!!! I got the bad feets so it may just be me but I must have padding to stand for that long.

Wont it smell like crap when it gets wet? I have fished a lot of tournaments in the rain and with out pad it still took a day or two to dry out.

wonder if you could put Hydro Turf under the carpet. used on jet skis and you can order whole rolls. I think it should work and doesn't hold water and is very durable.
