WOW I thought I had read something like this on the BBC. During a tourney in the NE and it guess it was real rough out there when the engine fell off coming back to the weight in. it looks like the motor mount bolts broke off!
Def looks like bolt failure or something. Doesn't look like any sort of transome strucural failer.
After looking at it more it may have been Merc failure on the clamp or swivel bracket..
Either way it don't look like nothing duck tape and a few zip ties will take care of
ABA Hudson river tournament this October the yoke did break and motor fell back in to the drink. poor Bob B.

Ok, this is probably a stupid question but will the motor run again after it dries out ?
I needs to be taken apart, cleaned and new bearings and seals. Then good to go.

Goner need more than bearings and seals . All the electrical and wiring and other moving parts has to replace . If it total and still has a warranty i would want a whole new motor , down the road there going be problems ?

Who ever was in that boat for sure had to change underwear.. Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase full power off!
I have seen 4 of engines break at that same spot as well. An anchor seems like a good use for a merc to me though.
