    200 venom not charging

95 model not charging. Read as many posts as I could, but the tach is still working fine unlike most of the other posts. Volt gauge was not reading at all. Checked battery and it had a bad cell. Replaced with an Optima blue top. Volt guauge now reads a hair over 12 volts. When I first crank the engine, it will charge at 14 volts for a couple of seconds, and then drop to 12.75, which is where i think the battery is at. It will slowly go down as the day goes on never reaching 14 again that day. It has done this a couple days in a row. Today I checked as many wires and connections as I could and found nothing wrong. Any ideas??

These volt readings are at the battery with a voltmeter which also match the gauge.

Are you talking about checking the voltage again? I leave the 3 bank charger hooked up whenever I am not on the water.

A voltage reading alone is not the most accurate way to test a charging system. You need an ammeter also along with a load-tester (or crank down the batteries) and watch the voltage and charging rate as the motor runs. This is all explained in the service manual. It also gives the charging rates at various rpms, too.
