Nicest paperweight in the HISTORY of paperweights!!!

Just back from Mark...he did a fantastic job on it! Old style Mercruiser 28 Bravo1. Dual PVS...added rake (was 15 1/8" diameter now 14 7/8")...B&B...tip cup...1/4" of the barrel was cut to reduce the flare! He is a true professional! I ran a Bravo last year but had a hard time carrying the extra length of the 2200. The full size flare was lifting the stern too much and forcing the bow down and in turn, the bow would drop and fall left anytime i ran over 77. The new Croxton design cuts a little bit of the flare and should carry the bow and is supposed to be even 2-3 mph faster putting in the same range as the 27 DAH Trophy's I was running! Thanks to Al, Mark, Mike L, Trimmer, and everyone else who has helped me prop this rig over the last 3 years! Unfortunately, i still have at least 10 weeks before i can run it! Wifey wanted it as a doorstop...i thought it made a much prettier paperweight!!! I've gone thru a half bottle of Windex making it shine and also to get my fingerprints off!!! I hope it performs as well as my DAH...Only time will i guess!

It was cold and wet so I didn't run with him, but I think he said he hit just over 80 @ 6000 RPM. He was surprised with the hesitation and then continuous acceleration out of the hole and throughout the mid range, I know that. Don't know if he's going to go with a 28 or 27, but I'm pretty sure it'll be a Bravo. Not necessarily the fastest prop for a G-boat (top end), but the Bravo is definitely the best all around prop for the hull In my opinion). Hole shot and acceleration from sitting still to 70 can't be beat.

    Duie,
Yeah, he and i just talked. Wonder why there was a hesitation...might be because the a few of the PVS were plugged? i know when i drove one last year, the minute i hit the throttle, she jumped right up with NO hesitation. In fact, as i was telling Mike L when i was buying this 28 bravo1, the dang boat was trying to spool up on me as i was idling out the no-wake...she clearly wanted to run. the acceleration was immediate as well with ZERO hesitation...weird. the only problem i had with the bravo i ran was it couldnt carry the extra length of my 2200 and subsequently, kept falling off, the bow would drop to the left as soon as i hit 77...every time. The new design with the extra rake and 1/4" of the flared barrell cut should hopefully allow me to carry the bow all the way thru to WOT.

Make sure you let me know how the new 28 works for you if you run it any time soon. I planning to get a 28 because I'm hitting my speed limiter with the 27 (250 EFI, 5800 RPM's max) and I have a 2200 as well. With the 27, I got 76 with a full tank of gas and normal fishing load before I hit the limiter.
You may be right about the hesitation. I'll pull the plugs out and see if it makes a difference.
