Yes... but it's actually easier to just remove the port side lower cowling (which can be done in under 5 minutes, once you've done it a few times).Originally Posted by Big Fish Mike

Cleaned my strainer yesterday. It needed it bad. The shallow Florida mud had it almost completely plugged. For those wondering it can definitely be done without removing the lower cowling. Only took me 15 min.
