    Reversed Polarity - stupid mistake???

I have a 97 model 50hp Honda on my pontoon boat. I had a battery go down this evening but no problem because I had a spare. I have no idea what I was thinking but in a hurry I hooked the positive to the negative and vice versa. I was sitting on the motor and had my wife to try starting it which was before I realized my mistake. The motor made a funny noise and then nothing. I then realized my mistake. I don't thing that I have a fuse to protect it as it let power to the motor. I now have no trim, power, or anything. From what I have read, I have at least fried the alternator.

Anything suggestions in what to check? Where can I check for power coming into the motor?

The larger motors have a 150 amp fuse on them that will blow be for hurting anything.

    Check for the fuse.

Is the fuse inside the motor? The motor made a funny noise as it tried to start and then nothing so I'm not thinking there wasn't a fuse. That would be good if it was.

On the 150-250 is under the cowling. Where the power cable connects to the motor.

Here is from the manual. Not sure the serial number so I guessed. Should get you going though, and you can pull start it with a blown fuse they say.

Found it this afternoon by chance and fixed it. It was located exactly where your diagram shows. Much appreciated even though I had already found it. I hope to not make that mistake again.

Well if you do, you know how to fix it.

Don't ask me how I knew how to fix it.

Now don't for get to replace the fuse so you'll have a spare.
