Fastest Prop: 1999 Gambler Intimidator 2000 with Pro Max 225

Maybe a Gambler owner with my setup will see this post here - I also posted it in the props forum...

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm currently running a 24 pitch Trophy large-hub. Before I nicked it up a bit I could run 80.5 mph on the GPS at 6750 RPM.
I've never tried other props on this rig. What's the latest and greatest for a setup like mine?

Re: Fastest Prop: 1999 Gambler Intimidator 2000 with Pro Max 225 (stl)

Ive got a 99 2000 Intimidator DC with a Merc. 225 3.0L EFI and a Brucato SVS turbo air injection system. Running a 10" setback Hydro plate and 1½ - 2" below pad and a 25P Tempest Plus ive reached 82.7 mph gps. with myself, no tourney load, and about 1/4 tank of gas. Im sure it could go alot quicker if I upgraded the prop to a 26P or maybe a 27P but my holeshot would suffer incredibly because I dont have trim tabs. You should be able to run a 26P with no problem I would guess..depending on your elevation. Im running lakes around 1700 - 2900ft altitude here in AZ.

Re: Fastest Prop: 1999 Gambler Intimida ... (AZ Intimidator)

Thanks AZ. Your motor has more torque than my 2.5 ProMax - that'd probably limit me somewhat.

Anyone know if the Fury prop would perform any better than the Trophy on my boat?

Thanks Trashy. I have the standard setup for Gamblers of that era - a Torque Master lower unit with the standard 1.75:1...

the trophy is hard to beat on the intimidator...or a tro4...i agree with trashy...you need to get the rpm down a little, or you will be spendin some big bucks soon...he can tell you about those side pinned pistons...6400 to 6500, with a taller prop, and you should go faster, and stay together longer....

Was cleaning the boat today and found a crack in one of the Trophy's blades (trailing edge). This is the second 24P Trophy that has cracked this way. The first had cracks in 3 of the 4 blades (trailing edges).

Has the Trophy Plus improved anything in this regard?

I just bought a 95' gambler w/ 200 efi. I also found my prop had 2 of the 4 blades cracked. No more Trophy's.

    Guys,

I bought a new 25 Trophy Plus and I've been running it the last two days. Bottom line is, I can't get over 6200 RPM no matter what I do. This is a completely different prop than my old 24 Trophy.

My motor's mounted using the bottom holes, and I've got the jackplate 1/2" down from the highest position. This appears to put the propshaft about 4" below the pad.

    Any thoughts?

I would raise the mount at least 2 more inches. I would think you could easily run it 2 - 2½ inches below pad with no problems at all, and that should get you the R's youre looking for.
