    Lid Latches Braking

Just wondering if anybody else is having problems with their lid latches/locks braking. I have 4 in under a year fail since puchasing my 2100. I'm not sure what is happening but I'll simply reach down to open a rod locker or storage lid and it acts as its locked. I'll put the key in it and the whole tumbler assymbly comes out. The only way to open the lid is to stick a screw driver in the whole where the lock assy. was and push aside the mechanism that opens the lock. As far as I can tell one of the screws that hold the whole unit together brakes then the lock no longer works. Funny thing is I have never locked one of the locks.

I guess every thing gets cheaper as time goes along, mine are 17 years old and all of them still function perfectly.

I think I'm going to start looking for a a new mfr. for the latches. Hopefully, I can find one that makes the same size that's a little more robust.

    Re: Lid Latches Braking (cowtrimmer)

I have the POS black plastic latches on my 2200 and one of the lift rings is egg shaped and will not go back into the recess. I have to warn people that fish with me not to trip on the latch that is sticking up.

    Re: Lid Latches Braking (ungotz)

I could be mistaken, but over a year ago or so we posted on this very topic. I think it was gamblerhydra who found out that the latches were some weired metric size so he bought just one latch to make sure they would work and he said it did not fit right so we kinda scratched the project.

    Re: Lid Latches Braking (WDBrand)

WDBrand I have a fresh broken one if you want it. I just wonder what the crappy ones that come from the factory cost compaired to a SS one would be. All I know is if I have another tournament that I can't open a rod locker or get to my tackle I'm going to take them all out and mail them to Bob Ackerbloom with a note that says, "Try again."

    Re: Lid Latches Braking (IBFISHIN)

Anyone know who manufactures the latch? I've looked all over it and can't find any alpha-numerics except for the key code for the lock. I'm wondering if we can contact the mfr. and give some constructive criticism about their product. This they can make some improvements.

Re: Lid Latches Braking (white gambler)

    The latches on my hatches
    Were made by Perko
I contacted Gambler and bought replacements
    They are junk-too!

I'll check boaters world catalog to see if there's anything better. m
