Maybe you all have a thought or two on my upcoming decision. I currently have a 2004 Stratos 201 (excellent cond.) with a 2004 Evinrude DI225ho, I'm looking at repowering up to an Etec 250HO. Does this sound wise from a performance standpoint? Investment? (or would I be better off buying a new boat) Reliability? For those of you that have a 201 w/ Etec 250HO, how does the 201 hull handle the higher speed? (safety, chine etc...)

What is the ho rating for your 201, I know the older ones were only rated for 245hp?? Not sure but I think that model year is rated above that. All news on the 250HO is good. Mabye Garland can get on here and help ya some.
JPG, there is a guy with a brand new 210/250HO set up his username is 'BlueSteel' and I've chatted with him today. Fresh out of the box witha 27 tempest @5800 he cracked 80. He's new with the boat and doesn't know where his plate is. He says the chine walk was bad enough to scare him off, said he had 25#wp so I know he's low.
I'm 21# at 7/8" below the pad w 8" set back and best was 79.1 with a 27p TXP worked 'good' by Mark.
