My Dad has a 96 Gambler 209 TE. We sold our cabin on lake fork last year and use to fish about 3 times a month on fork. THe gambler will catch just about every stump you run up on and it does get frustrating as you know what after you run up on about 4 in a row. BUT all that said there is no other boat I dream of owning one day than a new Gambler. I wish my dad would sell me his boat but he wont. The Gambler boat is first class from top to bottom. He does not have trim tabs on the 96 year modle but I would worry about them if he did have them.
Hey everybody,
Well I took my test ride and drive on tuesday......... OH MY GAWD,I gotta get me one of these!!!
We went out on Lake Grapvine, near my house,in perfect test conditions, winds at 20-30 MPH. The boat rode better than any boat I have ever been in. We went up lake where the waves were really rolling and the 2200 just flat out handled it wih no problems.
One thing that really stood out was also how dry the ride is. I think that if more people would drive these boats they would be amazed.
I have read on different internet boards that Gamblers were rough in the ride department, but these people must not have ever actually been in one.
Now I have a few more questions.
Will Gambler be making any changes for the 2007 models? Ben H, have you heard any rumours?
I have a chance to get a nearly new 06 for a great price and am trying to decide if I should get that boat, or wait and order a new 07 next January during the boat show. If I do that I might be tempted to get the new 300XS![]()
Thanks again for the help and opinions. Anymore would be appreciated,
Mark
January? Most boat companies make there model changeover in July. You might not be that far away from a 2007.For that matter, the engine changeover is in July also, for most engines.![]()

dont see any changes in the boats right now....and dont tell too many people about the ride in the gambler... we dont want EVERYBODY to have one....
LD
Sounds like you had the ultimate test ride....real world condition. I bet you were amazed at the speed that it handled the chop? I know how my 209 rides ....the 2200 is even better. Id go for the deal on the 05....I doubt much or anything will change. And the money save could go towards some gadgets.
Mark-
Just curious, did you ride in Key Puckett's (Fishing World) 2200?
Hey Basson,
Yeah I am gonna buy the boat from Key.
I decided to buy his 06 demo boat,it's all white except for the stripes. I am calling him Monday to work out the details.
So, I guess I'm about to join the Gambler family![]()
Does anybody know someone who wants to buy a 05 Z21 Ranger, because I got one to sell.
thanks again to everybody,
Mark
Welcome to the club![]()
Mark-
I think I know the boat. I looked at it in Feb., thought hard, but went ahead and ordered a new one. Nice boat. But, I thought that it was an '05 demo, not an '06 - all white, with red and gold stripes?
Hey Lance,
I looked at his 05 demo and decided I didn't want it . The boat I am going to get is his 06 boat. Almost the same colors, but newer and I like it better than the 05.
I'll let y'all know when I pull the trigger.
Mark
I got ya. That '06 boat is nice as well. I think he had it at the Dallas Boat show. Good luck.
The only two things i dont like about my Gambler is that the live wells are on the side and getting up from behind the console with this worn out shoulder i have. I guess i am like you in reverse i have been thinking about selling my Gambler and buying a Z21 to help my shoulder. Pain Sucks but will never give up fishing.
As much as i love my gambler it's going to be a tuff decision.![]()
River Rat
Gambler 2100
Wouldn't it be better to have the shoulder fixed?![]()
I have had my Gambler for a little less than a year.
Liked my Ranger but I love my Gambler.
I handles lake Michigan with class and style.
It handles me and I'm no lightweight.
What I like the most is the other tournament boaters drooling expressions...PRICELESS!

.............. I\'d rather be \"Lucky\" than skilled.
Lucky Ron,
If you don't mind please tell me more about the ride on Lake Michigan. How rough has it been when you have been out on the Gambler and how did it do. I get out on Erie once in awhile and as you know you can get in some pretty big water. Have been thinking of switching and a concern of mine about the Gambler is big water. I don't mean 2-3 foot chop but rather 4-7 foot rollers. Would a guy be nuts to get caught out there in a boat like that?
If you want a bass boat for rough water...nothing beats a Gambler....period.
Dave......I used to think my TR21 Triton rode well until I got my 2100 Gambler........and the 2200's ride even better given their length.
You're welcome to come up to Buckhorn Lake this summer anytime and I'll take you out in mine (which used to be Ben's).![]()
Thanks Al,
I would like to take you up on that. Have three or four tourneys on Tri-lakes this year so will be up there a lot. When it gets closer I'll send you a note (if you have access to my e-mail send me a note with yours).
I hope to be in Florida in mid-june and plan to drop by the plant as well. Any idea who should I contact about a brief visit?
Take a look at the 2006 model moters, they will run on 87 octane the 05 only runs on 93.
