150 Johnson Water At Lower Unit Seam !!!

Can anyone tell me if it is normal for water to be coming out of the seam between lower unit and center case when I have this running on a hose!! This is a 1985 GT150. Also does anyone know what the real compression should be on this motor. Someware I had read that the GT VRO engines had lower compression is that true. The VRO is now disconnected.

Depends on your guage really. As long as they are no more than 10% difference between best and worst you should be fine.

Ontime mine was between 95 and 88lbs. A few months later it was between 92 and 85. Both are right and both within the 10% spec. Generally speaking though I think the mid 80s saw pretty low compression numbers.

    My Bass-n-Beach rig:
    92 Ebbtide Dyna-Trak 181SS Fish-n-Ski -
    98 Evinrude 150 Intruder
    74lb MinnKota
SOLD all the above Fall of 2010 - bought a big open bow Larson "family" boat. Family does not like the Mississippi River as much as I do, so I sold that in the fall of 2012.
I'm thinking it is time for a straight up bass boat.

Thanks for your info. My test was at 95lbs on all cylinders so I guess it's fine . Got this boat in fall and just getting everything setup for spring.

Depends on your gauge, weather warm or cold, if been decarbed recently etc.....I'd say those are some good #'s!!
