    trim tabs

would trim tabs help an old boat like mine? 92 intimi, 200 merc,......and what kind?...bennett has hydraulic tabs you can raise up, but why would you want to?.... mobster tabs say there for bass boats, are cheaper and work indapendantly,so would be great for dummy's like me! wouldn't have to mess with setting every time...also mobster claims stabilizes the boat at high speeds.....is this true?..... .......kp

I would try a Bravo1 prop first... It will need some cupping added to the tips and venting... Mark on the Props page can hook you up. 24-26P.

How will trim tabs slow you down if they are completely out of the water when you are running WOT?

It is possible to tweak most of the chine out with engine height, engine plumb and prop selection.....if you have the patience to see it thru.

If you read his post he sayes they are supposed to make the boat more stable at speed....Well if your using them at speed its gonna make the boat slower....

Good set-up and a worked Bravo prop.

The sternlift characteristics of the Bravo will keep the heavy ass end of that Gambler up on the pad. A Gambler hull will lift the bow on it's own.

Trust me...the worked Bravo by Mark Croxton works very well on Gamblers. Holeshot and midrange are phenominal.

    Re: trim tabs (kp crane)

Kp, I did a post on aftermarket tabs, but cant find it. There was a minimal benefit with them installed. I put on a set of Lenco Edge series with guage and best I could get was a 1sec improvement. Benefits(one sec on hole shot) Downside(Had to change trailer tie-downs,2 more switches to mess with,Cut lines from non-boater fighting bass(((that could be a benefit)))) No real gain. I removed and sold them and had to fill in 16+ holes in the transom . They are a great product, but did not work for my setup. The bolt on ones have a different length travel than the factory ones. If I remember correctly, they would go from 5/8 above the pad surface(full up) to 1 1/2" below at full down. I think the factory tabs drop to about 2-3" below to realy see a differance. With nothing but tabs my holeshot was 6-8 secs,I opted for the Mike Rays foil-after some research- and my hole shot is 3 secs, loaded:thumbup: You have to be carefull with foils as some tend to crack the cav plate at the rear corners. One of my photos in the owners list shows the tabs on My boat(( Under gambler200ss )) I would hate to see somebody else make the mistake I did. I think the best bet for these hulls is a drag plate on the jack and a foil, nothing like getting it up under 5 secs. Good luck Lee NJ
