That was awesome. I hope BRP will make that available on DVD or something. I would like to see a detailed documentary of this century old company. This clip was an excellent start though.

I sent BRP around $4000 worth of antique EVINRUDE & ELTO brochures & video's I had collected for inclusion in their digital archives. They are doing that now. I believe that some of these have been included in the video & were/are part of their Miami Boat Show stand. I was notified of the video by BRP who sent me the link (below) on YouTube. Pretty exciting stuff. I hope there is a lot more to come I believe. We are all part of a big heritage.

Wow thanks for the video--most interestingly the Wenkel (or Rotary) outboard!!! How about that,had no idea!!! I would love to look into that,I am very curios of the performance of a rotary so much power with even more weight savings!!!! Wonder why that didnt pan out to much tolerance issues ???? Anyhow admire your work and many thanks for sharing it with us!!!!

Check this out for the OMC Wankel engines. The guess they developed about 330hp in 1973. Numbers have never been officially released. There were 4 being raced. 3 of them still exist. The 4th was destroyed. There were prototypes built as fishing & recreational motors but were never released. Fuel consumption was an issue together with the seal rings in the combustion chambers which did not last long. That problem has been overcome in todays automobile motors though.

From what my father told me the Wenkel engine would be spinning so fast that if it ran out of fuel while the engine was running at full speed it would seize up. Perhapes seahorse can fill us in more on this engine.
Thanks a million for the info--hopefully I will have time this evening to read through it all. I can only imagine what kind of RPM's you would be running to achieve that HP. Another thing I saw is the original sales brochure's from my older 1990 150 GT on your site some time ago--I really enjoy that old motor and seeing those made my day!! Oh how far even in eighteen years alone technolgy has come!!
