    Question 12 Volt to 24 Volt ????

Morning all, I have a 1997 R70 Sport that has a 12 Volt motorguide TM installed from new. Im wanting to upgrade to a 24 Volt system. My question is will the current wiring system allow me to do this or will there need to be major changes done ? I know how to rig batteries but not sure about the wiring in the boat ????? Thanks for any help at all. Mark M.

Probably going to depend on which 24V motor you are looking at. Changing the voltage doesn't require new wiring, but going to a motor that draws more current or requires a larger breaker could.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

Looking at a X3 65 lbs 24 Volt motorguide, It is currently on sale at BPS. Dont believe that I would need anything any bigger for my 17 footer.

Ranger has been using 6 GA wiring in their boats for the trolling motor system since forever. You should have no issue in upgrading. The 24V system has advantages if you fish wind or current for sure.

Ranger uses the same gauge wiring on every boat it builds. Going to 24 volts won't cause any problems. Just have to make sure to wire the plug correctly. I have always used a jumper between the batteries and then your + and - wire to the bow will read 24 volts output.
