    Just bought a 2011 G3 Eagle 176

Now for the accessories... Any suggestions on must/haves or upgrades. I bought it with the 25 4-stroke, so I could fish some of these smaller HP limit lakes.

1 already added another battery for the trolling motor - to give me a larger bank.

I agree with Sigma, keep the upgrades to a minimum at first, then add as you see you need things. A lot of it depends on what you feel is most important to you. Try it out a few times before you dive into the big stuff. Definately take a look around at this place and see what others have done and what might best suit you and your fishing style.

Congrats on the new boat. Post some pics when you get a chance.

    Re: Just bought a 2011 G3 Eagle 176 (Roberte)

Thanks for the help. I have had it out 4 times now and am quite pleased with everything so far. Lots of storage, plenty of room to fish, and the trolling motor has worked fine for 7 hours at full blast in the wind with the extra battery added.

Once it gets nice enough to keep it on my lift on our lake, I think I will want an onboard charger to make it a little easier to charge the batteries down at the lake, but so far I am happy as can be

    Thanks Again,

    Congrats on the purchase!

You didn't mention what type of fishing you do or whether you do TX fishing at all so I'd think that would make a difference. Frankly, if I can see the bottom (which is most of the time), I don't have much need for a FF but if I'm out deeper I want a decent FF with GPS.

I just purchased an eagle 176 with the 25 hp and can not get it to plane. Any suggestions?

Mine will get on plane pretty easy, but with my gear, and fishing partner, I probably only go about 10-15 MPH max. I also have a full tank of gas in there, which may actually help due to the tanks location. Are you haing any other problems? My trim gauge hasn't worked from the day I brought it home.

The trim guage is an option with the 25 hp. My trim guage and speedometer both didn't work. I filled tank and ran it to below a 1/4 and it never did plane out. I filled the front live well to help put weight forward but no help. I am now looking into props.

I just finished putting a Terrova 80 with I Pilot trolling motor on it. I also added 2 Humminbird fish finders. 898 for the console and a 788 on the bow.

Let me know if the prop works out for you. I don't know if you fish Coffeen ever, but I will be up there Saturday & Sunday this weekend, if you want to run mine, and see if there is a big difference. I live on Holiday Shores, and we could dump it in there anytime too, and give it a spin.

You're right the Yammie F25 does not have a trim gauge. At least the older ones didn't. I don't know if the F25LA does. As far as a prop, I had a 2001 G3 Pro 175 with a F25. I bought a Turbo prop for it. It was awesome. Call Gene at The Prop Shop at Cedar Falls IA. He has a web page. That's who I got my SS Turbo prop from. Hope I don't step on any sponsors' toes here.

Re: Just bought a 2011 G3 Eagle 176 (Big Al)

I installed my third prop yesterday. Yamaha 9 7/8 x 9. I haved raised the motor up 1 bolt hole as well. I will find out tomorrow if this helped. Yamaha makes a 9 7/8 x 8 but I am afraid of to many rpms.

MJ my boat hit 20.2 mph gps with just me in it and was turning 5600 rpm. Do you have the F25 or T25.
