    186 comparisons

Question for all you Champ owners. How does a 186 w/150 efi stack up against other Champs as far as ride? Other brands same size? I wanted larger model but space was an issue. I had a Charger 162 Foxfire that was a fine boat but would beat me up and get a little splash in rough conditions. My 186 has been fantastic so far. Passed test on Ky/Barkley Lake and soon to be tested on Lake St. Clair

I owned a 186 that I bought new for 20 years, the ride is awesome I personally have not found any other brand in the 18 foot range that rode and handled like my 186. As for ride compared to other Champs, for me a MH 202 is hard to beat, I have spent many of hours in several of them, also a 203 is a great riding boat, 184 are great too. I have not been in all the Champion models made but the ones I have been in all rode great.

Your 186 is underpowered with a 150 but it will get the job done just fine. For me all boats are underpowered the way they are rated but that's just my opinion. You have a fine Champion model in the 186.

I have had my 186 for 15 years and am totally happy. I have the same garage issue as you, but the 186 would still be my choice. My efi 150 will still get me over 60 mph and is a lot easier on the gas. Enjoy!

This boat is 17 yrs old but looks almost new. I have been in Rangers, Triton, Stratos, Challenger, Javelin, Procraft, Charger, Xpress, you get the idea and this is the best riding boat by far. A 175 would be nice but I am not much of a speed guy. Being 56 hopefully this is my last boat

I truly regret until this day that I sold my 186. Stop wondering because you won't find a better all around boat on the market. You simply can't beat it. Dry, ride and handle period.

Take good care of it, and it very well could be your last. (I bought my first new in 1990, age 52. Next was in 1998 and last is 2005. I am now 76. This one MAY be my last....LOVE it!!!!!)
