Viper Coral Question

Looking to buy a 1997 Viper Coral. My question is , a friend had a Hawk bass boat that the hull cracked on. Was told the boat had a double hull and the two had frozen and seperated. He had to scrap the hull. Are the Vipers built the same way??

I am not sure of what a double hull is or how they are built and put together but I worked at Cobra Boats for 9 years, from 1997 until the end of production and no double hulls on any of the models were built.

Viper and Hawk are both John Storie boats (not sure if I should say "designed, "built" or "modified", whatever). If left to his own desires, Storie would build boats light to get more speed. Vipers stated out lighter and had problems, partners in Viper beefed them up. Hawk boats were built lighter and there has been plenty of problems reported with them. Also, Hawk Boats was not in business very long, so that's a hint.

The Corals are very solid boats.

All that being said, I think the 'double hull coming apart" really means that the smooth gelcoat outside layer seperated from the structual fiberglass, which has happen on some Vipers and has happened at times on EVERY BRAND of boat out there.
