Delimitation
If you didn't read in the "windshields", post I have an issue.
I was fishing on Lake Michigan last weekend and the weathermen were lets say a little off.
Called for winds 0-6 but for my 30+ mile run back in it was closer to 20.
So needless to say a little bumpy.
Long story short when I put the boat on the trailer noticed some jagged gel coat on the bottom of the transom, Got down and looked under the boat and a 3ft x 6ft "sheet" of gel coat is gone.
Now the really Sh%$y part. My Ins. company is not sure if the will cover it due to the history of this boat having a "defect"
So my ? is what years was there an issue with this?
And Don't ya think a guy would have noticed by now?

Re: Delimitation (olski)
The only defective hulls I know of were in '95 when one of the designers wanted speed ver strength. My brother had one of those, ended up with a new '96 and a 201 instead of a 188 for all his trouble. After that I haven't heard of any hull issues.

Re: Delimitation (Tx 201)
There were no delamination issues for Viper Boats, Inc. Not saying there wasn't an isolated case like just reported by Tx 201, but nothing on a grand scale. Viper Boats, Inc. did have a major problem when they received some tainted gel coat from their supplier, Neste Corporation, as did BassCat, Champion and Ranger Boats back in 1999. The tainted gel coat affected several 1999 models and a few in year 2000. The tainted gel did not cause any type of delamination problem or structural damage. The tainted material caused the gel coat to bubble up in places or turn a yellowish color and neither one could be repaired. Most all were fixed under warranty by replacing the hull, top cap, or entire boat if necessary at no charge to the customer.
I thought I would be on Easy Street by now but somehow I missed the off ramp!

Re: Delimitation (Backlash Ar)
That makes me feel better.
My Ins. guy must have done some research to see that there was an issue at one point but this does not sound like what happened to mine.
Thanks again.

Re: Delimitation (olski)
They will do what they can to pay as little as they can. Most ins. covers impact damage only. If it fell apart under normal use, they might refuse to pay and they have the right to.
