    Cobra Boats

It is true, cobra boats will be back in production in northeast Wisconsin.
We will start building as soon as the frost is out of the ground and hope
to be building boats by the end of May.
We will only be selling the boats through dealers only so if you have a favorite
dealer that treats you right let us know and we will contact them.
Also if you have a cobra now, let us know how you would improve it.

Wow.. Sounds like great news. I know I loved my cobra. Well the console need redone make them removale more aero dynamic. change the splash well, open the battery compartment so there is more room, recessed trolling motor petal, built in navigation light on the bow, keep the cobra striping very stylish if you ask me, Led lighting in the rod lockers and storage compartments. Ok that is all I can think of right now.

Open up the battery compartment so you have more room to work and relocate the cooler behind one of the seats instead of in the floor.
Keep the dang things so an average person can afford them. I don't know about most but $45,000 is out of my pricerange ... Oh yeah i just love my 2001 201D.

I'd keep the storage behind the seats as is and make the ice chest either part of a step up to the front or back deck. I doubt you will see an enlarged battery box area although that is the #1 item that has to eventually be addresssed. In order to do that the mold would have to be re-worked. Besides, if the "new" Cobra is supposed to go into production around the end of May there isn't time to do anything like that...then again maybe it has already been addressed, who knows? Just have to wait and see I guess. We've all heard this too many times before so I'll just take a wait and see attitude. Time will tell, I hope it all comes to fruition. Wishing the new Cobra manufacturer much success.

    Re: Cobra Boats (Backlash Ar)

When Ranger, Triton, Stratos, Champion, & whatever else all have to combine operations just to keep ONE plant open at Ranger...I can't imagine trying to start up a bass boat building company in these times....but best of luck to them.

Are Corals going to made again also?

I posted this on another thread.

I hope they keep the Coosa material and ASME 5000 resins in the construction. I love my coosa 216 especially since it is only 1610#.
Wish they would change the dash to incorporate a HDS8 or similar in dash and get rid of that soft foam like dash.

I have added LED lighting to compartments and livewells in mine and i love it. Also love the cooler position. It would be nice if the rear deck could incorporate a little added storage, and if the livewells could be made deeper someway. I havent looked into the construction to see if that is possible.

Also a better aeration system than what is standard and possble one with either oxygen generators or simply Air intakes to add a little more disolved O2 into the water. I have trouble keeping fish alive from 85-100+ degree days on the water.

THe deck and compartment drainage system could be much improved on. Everytime i fish in heavey rain or if i leave the boat outide in a down pour my front center compartment fills with a couple inches deep water. And water drips into my rod compartments. Better compartment ventilation and drainage would be one of the best improvements.
I have several thoughts and ideas, but i have yet to implement them into my cobra. It would be much easier done during construction.

Recessed TM pedal would be a life saver.

ALso changing the switch panel to a more substancial less brittle material. Or better yet, mold it into the fiberglass for the switches and hinge the side by the seat so that it could be unlatched and raise to do maintenance to the switch panel.

I would also, personal opinion only, prefer the lockers and storage compatements to not be carpeted. It would be better for kepping the dry, and would hold less scent helping keep your rods and lures more scent free.

I can't speak for the 201 but the 216 would much benifit by at least a 10" if not even a 12" jackplate being standard. I have an 8" on mine now and its not enough lift. I will be adding a 14" Hydraulic soon.

Better access to the fuel tank sending unit as well as acess to the fuel line going to the motor, I need to change my fuel lines and cant even get to them.

Other than that i cant think of anything i would change. THose are all simple mods. I have Zero major complaints on my cobra, best boat i have ever owned.

Hmmm, I never got a drop of water in my front or rear storage compartments or any of the rod lockers. Maybe your lid gaskets need to be replaced???

I don't get any in mine either, and I've been in some pretty good rainstorms.

My gaskets are perfectly soft, no tears or cracks. what boggles my mind though is why would you you have carpeted lids with gaskets... there is no way that the gasket could seal against carpet. figured the raised area around the lid would be enough to keep the water from draining in. I think it has to do with the drainage system. There are (2) 1/4" holes with gromets, one in each of the rear corners of the center compartment. I do have the insert with tackle organizer. This may be keeping any of the water from draining out the front. I was thinking about drilling out the drain holes to like 1/2" or 3/4" if there is enough room. But there is foam under it so i would also have to dig out all that foam.

get rid of those springlock posts....

Those springlock posts are awful to remove. I break out in sweat everytime I have to remove one. The adjustable ones are always binding up after about a year's worth of use. Better fit finish on the bow panel....its screwed into a flimsy plastic seal...it feels like i'm going to break it in half whenever I need to unplug the trolling motor. Also the labels on the switches faded after a year or two and I had to use a label maker to identify the switches...had to do this to the console switches too. BTW, I have a 2000 201D.
