Hi guys
I'll be a new Garmin owner soon (hopefully a happy convert) and I'm trying to decide between the two.
Other than different sized screens, what are the major differences between the two.
Thanks!

The 721's are a touch screen and are marketed more at the boating market and the 840 is a button model and is geared more to the fishing market.
the 721 has no mapping and the 840 is preloaded with us coastal and lakevu mapping.
the 721's have 2 network ports vs. 1 on the 840 and the 721's are capable of video input.
the screen is a little bigger on the 840.
Special thanks to my sponsors- Team Daiwa, Garmin Electronics, Gill Technical Fishing, Bass Magnet Lures, and Upper Canada Marine.
I really like my 840XS and also have 70dv touchscreen. I don't have a preference one over the other, button vs touch screen. Also, I know 70dv doesn't have the feature near like the 721 but operationally just wanted to share my perspective if that is a differentiator.
Dont foeget neither comes with a transducer and neither has sideVu.
Get a 73 or 93 unless you really need/want the chirp.
