    Coral windshield

Well, I thought I would do something useful today and tighten up my windshield on my 1997 Coral 202.

Unfortunately, while tightening one of the screws, POP and the windshield shattered. GRRRRR

The windshield says "Campbell" and has a phone number, but the recording gives another number and that number has a recording for "Transit Bags and Cases"???

The area code for "Campbell" is 214 so they must have been in the Dallas area. Anyone know how to get a new windshield for a Coral? Apparently the Cobras were a different supplier.

    Thanks Backlash!

I already tried them and they only make the Cobra windshields.

Jay, I've been told they can duplicate any windshield currently on the market but they need a sample to work from. Will the Coral windshield that's not broken fit the other side if it was turned in the right direction? If so, you could send the good one for them to use as a template. Just a thought in case all other options have been exhausted.

Jay....that IS a bummer. Holy Moly. If you want, you could e-mail Laurie and see if she has the info for getting another Coral windshield and I wish you luck there. I remember how hard it was for the plant to get 1 Coral windshield. The manufacturer wouldn't build just 1 windshield.......Cobra always had to order 10 at a time. But since the plant is no longer in business they may take sympathy on you and build you one.

If interested, send me an IM and I will give you Lauri's addy.

    Re: Coral windshield (Cleveland)

    Thanks Larry and Kathy,

I'm going to try a local glass shop tomorrow. The section I broke is pretty flat, so I'm hoping they can replace it.

    Thanks!

    Re: Coral windshield (Backlash Ar)

Here's an update to wrap-up my windshield episode.

I discovered that the windshield is composed of both glass and plexiglass panels. The panel I broke was glass and fortunately I was able to get it replaced by the local glass shop for about $25 because it was just a flat piece of tempered glass. The curved panels are plexiglass and probably harder to get duplicated.

I got lucky on the glass, but even luckier that I didn't kill myself when I slipped and fell getting out of the boat. Dang that concrete is hard and no, I wasn't drinking a beer!!

Anyway...all is good now. Time to go fishin!!
