    2000 Johnson 225 Problem.

Last 2 trips out I have had something strange happen and looking for some advice. Motor starts fine takes and takes off ok. Runs fine till sun comes out and it sits for about an hour. When I go to take off, motor starts stays running and doesn't stall, but only goest at about idle with the hot foot to the floor. After about 20 seconds it takes off like it should. I looked and didn't see any major leaks. Anyone have any suggestions of what it could be or what to look for.

    Thanks
    Rob L

Sounds like a timer base acting up. Model number would help us out though. CM

Its the Johnson 225 HO carb model. I didn't try to choke it. I just kept the hot foot hammered dwon and it never stalled or sputtered just went along like it was just in gear with out any throttle.

Mine did that once, as well as a buddy of mine, and we both had the glass sea thru fuel filters, and they had stripped and started coming apart, thus losing prime to the carbs. I would personally try to choke it when it does it, and that would tell youi fuel or fire........

What ever filter you use....I would use the Bomb filter, Make sure it has a 3/8 ID.

I have replaced a bunch of those glass ones that you find at the local auto shack because of flow problems.
