Re: ficht won't fire the plugs (bulred)

There are a lot of things that could keep your motor from starting. Your mention that the stator wire connector looked "hot" could be a problem. Using the service manual as a guide, check the voltage output and the resistance of each pair of wires. Remove each pin and check the wire strands and the crimp job to make sure nothing is damaged, loose, corroded, etc.

Also hook up a digital voltmeter to the starter B+ stud and to the starter frame for a ground. While the motor is craniking over, the voltage should be about 9.6-10 or above. If not, the engine computer will not boot up and run the motor.

Check the 40 volt system at cranking and running speeds to make sure it is operational at low and high rpms and that the start assist circuit is working.

These are only a few of the common starting problems, if you don't have the manual, tools, knowhow, etc., find a FICHT trained person to troubleshoot it for you.

Since it got hard to start over time I would do a compression check as well as what Seahorse said.

Not trying to go off base here but did you replace the plugs, gap them at .028 and index them? You should have a tech at least pull any codes if stored.

plugs are good /I have run it on a computer an got no codes could the starter be dragging enough to keep the emm from kicking in/ could it be the emm if so how do you go about ckecking it. does the stator have anything to do with it starting. when I say it started taking longer each time I tried starting it, this all took place in about 3 or 4 starts on the same afternoon. PLEASE RESPOND

Yes! If the starter is dragging it may not start, you need to turn that motor 200 RPM's to start it. Bad connections at the battery, solenoid or starter can be a problem. Check all connections positive and ground from the battery. It is hard for anyone on here to tell you what the problem is, just too many things that can cause it not to start.

Best bet for you is to take it in to an authorized shop.

Something similar happened to my 97' 150. It was the crank shaft sensor out of adjustment.

DFI Technologies can check out the EMM and repair it if needed. Check them out on this link http://www.dfitechnologies.com Good luck.

Re: ficht won't fire the plugs (backwater)

It is at the shop now been their since Dec 20th I believe they are looking for some used parts like a stator an emm an starter , I don,t want to pour alot of money into this engine because it has 536 hrs on it, I would rather put it into something with fewer hrs I just thought someone on here might be able to tell me me what it could be did not know so many things could be suspect. Thanks to all
