    Live well drain

Is there a way to plug the live well, after you pull the boat out of the water on a Coral ? Also, Does the Ski pole fit that tight on everyone's Coral? It is hard to get it in or out.

    Re: Live well drain (LaCoral)

I'm assuming (maybe very incorrectly) that the livewell system on the coral would be the same as the cobra. In that case, the selector "knob" should have three positions...empty, auto, and recirc. I put mine on recirc cause if I want to keep water in it, I want to keep fish alive too, so I put it on recirculate and leave the livewells running.

Thanks for the reply! Still learning where everything is on this boat, as the man I purchased the boat from didn't go over much with me. So, I am learning as I go.

    Re: Live well drain (LaCoral)

    Hi All,

While you're on this same subject, I have another question. I can't seem to figure out why when I'm running both livewell aerators on manual or auto and the valve is pointing to "recirculate" the livewell ( one large with divider ) continues to fill up all the way till it is running out of the compartments. One would think, that on recirc position no more water would be added from the outside, just recirculating the water in the livewell. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Re: Live well drain (Bass2Lip)

I may be totally off on this one, but let me see.....one livewell pump is for taking water from the outside...one is for taking water from the inside...mine is pump 2...if you have both of them on, then one is still taking water from the outside, even if you have it on recirc. If you have it one recirc, and both well are running, then the one that water will "pass through" to get to the outside and drain is running, so no water can go out, thus, it overflows.... try running just pump 2 with it one recirc and see if this helps it from running over (and making hot water if you have ice in it or something you don't want diluted).

    CJ,

Thanks for the explanation and I will give it a try in this Friday night tournament. Hopefully you have solved the mystery and my problem.

    Re: Live well drain (Bass2Lip)

Bass2lip, I posted on this board about something similar this summer. Both pumps will bring in fresh water when turned on and set to fill. What I found on my 190 was that only one of the 2 pumps is set up to recirculate, so if both pumps are on and you have the dial set to recirculate, while pump #1 is recirculating, pump #2 is just pumping in fresh (and hot) water at the same time, which totally defeats the purpose of having recirc on and adding ice in the summer. This is then probably causing you to overflow like cj said. It took me 5 years and a lot of wasted liter bottles of ice in the livewell before I realized this. What this also means is if you load your trailer with fish in the well and you have both pumps on and have the dial set to recirc, pump number two is just sucking air the whole time and this will probably cause some damage to the pump. The other problem I have had with my livewell is fish up to 15 inches long squeezing thru the gap between the divider and the top of the well, which probably is not very good for their overall health. It seems no matter which side of the well I put the smaller keepers on, they always want to be on the other side, and my well gets so full of water that it gives them enough room/height to swim thru. I guess I just need to quit catching fish under two pounds.

    Re: Live well drain (dc)

    dc,

Know what ya mean. I usually try to put the smaller bass on one side so I know which side of the livewell the fish to cull are and the other night I had 2 large bass on the drivers side and one just over 15" on the passenger side and when my number was called to go to the scales, I went to get the smaller fish first and he was gone. As you say they will swim through that small gap in the back side top of the livewlll divider. I think my pump that recirculates is pump #2. I am going to check it out tonight. Thanks for the additional response.

The post on my rear deck is so bad these days, I can't get the seat post in. Too bad for the fishing partner. I've tried to lube it, and even file it out with a curved rough file.

Even after I get it loose for a bit, by the next season, it's tight again.

    Anyone else?

    Re: (jimman)

A curved rough file will do it, but it will leave burrs in it too. I use a fine grit sand paper to clean it up mainly. I lube with white lithium grease, and then I take the seat out at least once every couple of weeks, if only to put it right back in, to make sure it doesn't seize up. Over the off season, just take it out and leave it out. Should be no more problems....

Personally I think you would be much better off eliminating any type of grease. It attracts dirt which will evetually lead to a tight fit, plus it causes a suctioning effect which makes the seat pedestal harder to remove; not to mention that accidently you could end up with some gease on your carpet, seat, etc. I simply went to work on the pedestal where it fits into the base with some emory cloth and a little elbow grease. I marked off the area that would be exposed just above the base so that where I used the emory cloth it wouldn't show. Just a thought.

I thought I would be on Easy Street by now but somehow I missed the off ramp!
