Pulling a Tube with a Coral

I've read that you shouldn't pull a tube with a ski pole so I ordered a harness. I've also read that the transom hooks are fine for pulling a tube but I wanted to get the opinion either someone who builds/built Corals or someone who owns a Coral.

I pull both skiers and tubers with the ski pole without any problems. What kind of problems have you heard about?

I have also seen that it is "not recommended" to pull inflatables with the ski tow bar. However, I do it regularly (with a Coral) with no problems. In fact, the bar works better b/c it gets the rope out of the wake and allows the driver to "whip" the tube much easier!!!

I use my ski tow for towing tubes too! I have heard that you shouldn't, but mine doesn't have that sticker on it. Haven't had any problems to speak of.

Re: Pulling a Tube with a Coral (CORAL 96)

Thanks guys. I have read that pulling a tube with the ski poll puts a lot of stress on it unlike pulling a skier. I just want to make sure I don't do any damage to my beloved Coral. I did purchase a tow harness for pulling tubes. I'll see how that works out.

Re: Pulling a Tube with a Coral (Curado)

The warnig is correct. I have a 1999 Coral 202 and was pulling a 150 pound teenager on a tube last year and the resistance from the tube and rider caused the pole to get pulled out of its hole. The pole hit the cowling and cracked it and also bent the two support arms which were very difficult to replace because they are built for the Coral boat. I now use a harness and am thankful nothing else was damaged with my incident because the pole came loose with a lot of force.
    Learn form my mistake.

Did you have the pole pinned down inside the livewell? My ski tow bar has a pin that I put in once it is in the rear seat hole. I stick my head down in the livewell and put a pin through the bottom of the ski tow bar. This makes it virtually impossible for the tow bar to be removed.....I think If yours was pinned, I will definitely think twice about pulling tubes in the future!
