Mercury 90 hp prop question
I have a 2006 Mercury 90 ELPTO on a Triton VT19 aluminum bass boat. When i boat the boat it has a 13 3/4x15 SS Solas prop and ran around 37-38 WOT. I purchaced a Apollo 13 1/8x19 SS prop and my boat now runs 42.8(GPS) with RPMs around 5400-5500. I have heard alot about the Laser props and was wanderng if it would be worth it to purchase one for my boat.I have thought about a 13x21 or even a 22p laser to maybe pickup a little speed. Is this a good size prop or is the prop I have now the size I need to stay with? Please give me some insight as to what size prop I need.

What is the maximum allowable RPM's for your motor.

I think my max rpm's for my motor is around 5500 rpms. With the prop i am running, i am running at my max and still have good holeshot. I have heard i can run it closer to 5000 rpms and be fine. I was wandering if i could get either a 21,22 or even 23 pitch and get a little more from my outboard. I know where i can get a 4 blade 13x23p for a decent deal but want to know if a 23p would be too much. I am also not sure if my tach is accurate or not.

Turning more pitch doesn't mean you will gain speed, unless you keep your RPMs up. Adding pitch normally just lowers RPMs and you lose hole shot and no gain on top.

so is the the 19p the best setup for my boat? would going to a laser prop be that much diferrence even if i only go to the same pitch or maybe a 20 or 21p?

If the laser2 provides better lift than your prop, You could see some speed gains... I'd be guessing though.

ok thanks, just not sure if buying the laser woukld be beneficial to my 19p apollo. I have just heard alot about the lasers

The laser2 props have a good home on the 75-125 mercs...

what does anyone think of a cabelas 4 blade 13x23p?would i stay with the same pitch with a 4 blade?

4 blades are slower on most boats/motors, especially on lower hp and smaller hulls.

ok thanks, think ill stick with my 19p and just look for me a used laser 20 or 21p or a good used 21p

do you think my motor on my boat would turn a 13 3/4x22 or a 13x22 4 blade?

Not in the right rpm window.

The biggest problem with the laser II is it needs work to run right. Most people who run them on tin boats have trouble with bow lift and have to have them recupped. Have you ran it loaded with all your gear the way you fish with it?
-
I do not have a laser prop, just have heard so much about them. as of right now i have a 19p michigan wheel apollo and right now it runs at 42.8(gps) with all gear the way i fish with one person. the rpms are around 5400-5500. I would like to know if i could run a bigger pitch prop or maybe a different prop and get a little more out of her. i may be at where i need to be.

my 19p apollo runs great on holeshot, my 19 ft boat get up on plane very quickly and turning WOT 5400-5600 rpms, it seems to turmn the the 19 well and want to know if i can run a bigger pitch and if so ho much more?
-
No, your WOT RPM's are at the MAX.

I run a 07 triton v176 mag with a 90 optimax. Just sent a 22 laser and a 22 raker to Mark. He's gonna repitch the laser to a 23 and add cup. Stock lasers don't have much lift in them. I'm currently running a 23 trophy. Best speed so far is 46.3 at 5600

I have 2007 triton TR 176 with mercury 90 stock prop . Will I get any gain by adding a hydra foil ?
