    295vf set up help

I have a 1994 Charger 295vf yamaha pro 200with se pro 300 hydofoil . It has a 4 blade Trophy 25 pitch prop. The motor is in the 3rd hole from the top. It will only run 53 mph (gps) and i am haveing problems with it wanting to grab to much in turns. I would highly appreciate any advise I could get.

Do you know how far below the pad the propshaft is? I'm not sure how that hydrofoil might be affecting you, but from my experience you shouldn't need one. It could be slowing you down and changing other characteristics of the boat.

Firts thing ,throw that trophy away,Yami s like the 25 m or a good tempest (finding one is hard) you will be impressed with the m series props. It will have a ton of lift.
Then take the foil off it will create to much tail lift on turns and drive the bow down.
You will not need it with that Yami. as they have tons of low end .I have had all three motors and that Yami is a hole shot beast.
After you get the right prop than you can play with the height ,most of the time the top hole is the best on the yami.or a 6 inch plate would be nice(easier to move the motor) and you should be around 70 at 6000.

5200 rpm and that is with 2 people and full tank and gear.
I will take the foil off and see how thats works . Where can i find a 25m prop?

A friend of mine had the same type of numbers with a Yamaha 200 (not ProV) on a 195tf. He never could get anything out of it so he just fished with it until last summer when it slowed to 45mph and then got to where it would not plane so he just parked it. I guess the old Yamie just gave out.

As billy bob joe been said you might want to have the compression checked. And other things. You can check it pretty easy for 50.00 you buy a compression tester and do it at home.

How far below the pad is the prop shaft? If its too low or too high that will make a big difference along with having the correct prop, of course it will never run right if the motor isn't running strong.

it might be a tad low,i like to see around 100 to 110.Now if all the cylinders are 90 you should be ok.It could be something out of adjustment on the carbs or who knows.i would take it to a shop and let them give her a check up.

I would run that yamaha up to Hydro Tech at Nixa, Mo for a look see. If I remember right my ProV 200 had around 117-119 on all cylinders.

prolly outta do those tests instead of takin a sellers word for it

if those are the numbers im thinkin thats a tad low but it looks more like a bad gauge,, at least they are all consistant and thats what you want..do yourself a favor and go to sears and get you a tester. 30 bucks well spent imho

also,, 5200 wot is too low also,, that motor needs to come up..
