    Fender swap

Has anyone ever changed out metal fenders for fiberglass fenders? Or is this possible? New z8 will be here tomorrow and I was wondering if I could buy the fiberglass fenders and install them on nitro trailer. I should have asked BPS but too late boat is already on delivery

I'm interested as well if 26nitro decides he doesn't want them.

The biggest thng ive seen is when you have a blow out the fender goes with it and when you have to get one you have to buy 2 and you have to buy the color you want and not always redily availible. 2nd there almost double what a metal fender is .
3rd you cant stand on them ..

Interesting. I've never had fiberglass on any boat trailer so I had no idea. Just thought they looked nice. Thanks for the input.

I don't think its hard, never done it though.

Have blown 3 tires with fiberglass fenders. Have cracked and chipped the fender, but never destroyed it. They r fiberglass and can be repaired.

It's not hard. I've had my metal fenders off before. They bolt on.

BMCD, do you stand on your fiberglass?

Yes all the time. Gotta use them to get in the boat. And I've lost some weight, but I'm still 250lbs

Do they sale fiberglass finders for the Z7 trailer? Love the look but can live with mine if they don't.

when you unbolt metal fenders your step plates will still be there. I dont think
you can put the fiberglass ones on right over those step plates, unless they
are bolt on too----i dont know but thought these steps were welded on......
I bought a trailer from buds motorsports that came from the factory with
fiberglass fenders. Tracker removed them before i bought it so i got it real
cheap. BUT....once removed, there were 3 bolt-on supports left: 2 behind the
wheels and 1 larger support in front of wheels. I dont think these would be
there on a trailer that came from factory with metal fenders.....just my thoughts

Having had the fiberglass fenders on my nitro and the metal ones on the new phoenix, My preference would be the metal. Had a tire go and thrash the crap out of the fiberglass. Had a guy crunch a corner in the parking lot, they get alot more abuse than the fiberglass on the boat, so they look hazed / scratched up early on. Metal with gatorhyde is the way to go. Not as pretty looking but way more practical and easier to take care of.

I believe the fender color is called night fire, I will need to double check and respond. Primary black base with crimson/red and silver fleck. Super Sharp, brand new in wood shipping boxes. My guess is we would have to ship common carrier, they just bolt on. I open to a fair offer on them, not sure what it would cost to ship them to anyone interested.

Adding to other comments, I love the fiberglass fenders SUPER strong and very durable. I've never had a problem with a fiberglass fender (multiple blowouts and potholes) and wouldn't own one without a set. I stand on my all the time.

Damn that's not even close to my colors. My boat is black, gun metal, and blue. Thanks for the input.

Had a friend of mine that had a z-commanche with glass fenders he took his boat out on a windy day and got it a little crooked on the he trailer so he pulled the boat and trailer back down the ramp and tried to nudge the boat over it bumped the fender bunk enough that it busted the bolts where it bolts into the trailer frame, So...
He towed it on to the house, while 40 miles to the house he blew a tire which was because his fiberglass fender was sitting on top of his tires it bsically blew the fender into a million pieces. Finding out his bunk on the fender busted the bolt out of the mount when he took out the boat .and it blew fiberglass all down inside the boat..
