Couldn't they just take bracket bolts off jackplate and take the whole thing? I bought a 8 foot cable lock and run it through the holes in blade power poles and through jackplate. Cost like 21 dollars at Lowes.

Agreed, crankbait745. Looking at my own, the bracket-to-jackplate connection is held by TWO bolts (not 4). Though a bit harder to get at, removing those two bolts rewards the thief with a bracket in addition to the Power Pole. I had already decided to use a cable/padlock for travel - same I use when traveling with the ATV during hunting season.

My opinion is to use specialty hardware in one bolt location on both the Power Pole to adapter plate and adapter plate to jack plate. Typically those who want to steal will not be running around with these size specialty tools or would even think about it.

    OR use Mcguard for both

Claymore anti-personal device should do the trick. I hate thieves.

    Guy's,

Anything can be stolen. The issue with the would be theif taking the 2 bolts off from the Jackplate is much more difficult then you think.

    1. There's hardly any room and the tools that would be needed isn't something simple.
    2. Thieves want a quick solution and they don't want to be running with a bracket and pole. Very suspecious and not favorable.
    3. This is just a clean solution. No cables hanging around grabbing grass and it works.
    4. It's 5% of the cost of the whole pole too.

Plus when you want to or need to remove the pole it just takes your key. Easily transferred to your next boat as well. Takes just a few minutes to install also.
