I have a 2005 E-tec 250 (E250DPLSO Serial E5115339). Can the standard 250 be reprogrammed to punch out as much HP as the 250 HO? I know the gear case is different but other than that is it just computer controlled?![]()

In a word, no.
3.4L powerhead vs 3.3, different exhaust and I am sure there are many more differences

And lower units. Even if you made the same hp as the 250 H.O., you'd be slower because of the lower unit.
