Hey Champion brethren..I am looking to build a garage for my Champ 210 and was wondering for those of you that have this boat, What size garage door and the length/depth of the garage you have for it?? Was wondering if a 16 x 28 would be big enough for the boat to fit (straight in)? I have the breakaway tongue on trailer. What size do you guys recommend.
I will measure when I get home. Mine barely fits in a standard 2 car (24 x 24) garage, but it takes up the whole garage. I have to get it in just right and get it at a 45 angle from corner to corner and fold trailer tongue. If I were building one and had my choice, I would go 16 x 30 so you could walk all the way around, but when I get home, I can tell you the minimum required.
so yours is in catty corner and barely fits? I applied for 16x30 but may only be able to get 16x28 due to county codes. I know the width will work but it is the depth that might be an issue to go straight in w/o having to turn to side at all to get the door closed. I think our boats are 25ft w/breakaway tongue.
28" will work with the swing tongue and still give you room to walk in front......but 30' is better.......
get as big as you can. being able to walk around the boat without squeezing over the tongue is worth it.
Bare minimum would be 10 x 25. Here is a pic of mine angled in a standard 24 x 24 double.
I keep my 206 in a 12 x 30 garage. I don't swing the tongue away and even if the engine is still tilted with the transom saver on I can get around the rear with about 2.5 feet to spare. So, I'm sure you'll fit in a 28 foot length, expecially if you swing the tongue away and put the engine down a little.

Actually just measured my garage and it is only 20'W x 22'D.
I think 28' will work with the tongue folded. I had a 24 x 24 and added 18'. Mine fits in 30' without folding the tongue. I went with a 12' door in the middle and a walkthrough door next to it. Plenty of room all the way around.
My 191 goes in a 24ft. deep garage with the folding tounge. And enuff room to walk around the front, but not that much. I wish I would have built it alot bigger. Build the biggest garage you can get away with and by the biggest truck you can to pull it. You'll never come up short!
Sweet colors barbarian,, i remember doing the catty corner thing before but had single axle which made easier to move around but these tandems dont budge an inch. Have you considered an engine hut off the back of your garage so your boat can go straight in, this will save you alot of hassle, I did this on last garage and it was great. Thanks for your input. I should know something soon if i can do 28 or 30ft. I am putting on a 12 ft door so that shouldnt be an issue to get in/out. Thanks for everyone's input..
Go-Jacks will let you manuever a tandem with no problem, but hope you can build your garage big enough to not need them...

Wish I could. I live in a so called planned community and they are very strict about that kind of stuff. Shoot, if I leave my boat in my driveway for 1 day, I might get a letter from the HOA. I've got 4 more years and my youngest will be in college and then I am out of this city slicker neighborhood. Taking one for the team now since my kids love it - great schools and friends everywhere within walking distance. Ive gotten pretty good at getting the boat in there. Bring it in at just the right angle and spot then jack-knife it at the last second and I usually only have to push it sideways about 6-10" which feels like 6-10'.
Gotcha, I am in same boat with HOA, thats why i have to get approval for garage/length. I'd be happy if i could get mine in catty corner but it is 6in to long. At least yours is in garage. The outcome is going to determine if we stay or go , i cant deal with cover anymore.
Usually the HOA is not bad if you build it to follow the style and materials of what you already have.
Your right but i also have to deal with health dept and county setbacks that will determine where i can build it and how big. Typical govt bs. I told my wife if i cant build were putting a sign out front and movin on. These boat covers are only good for 3 yrs and then they mold up and lose there ability to keep water out no matter how much proofing you do and at $800 a pop its time to get garage and be done with this.
I have a 2007 Elite 200, a foot shorter than your 210. My garage is 28 ft. deep, I leave the motor toter on and the tongue is straight, I have about 6 inches in the back and 1 foot in front, to walk bye. If you choose to fold the tongue, 28 ft. would be deep enough, I park both side by side thru a 16 foot garage door, but I have to back the truck in. My garage is 32 feet wide , with a 16 & a 10 foot doors.
