    December on Lake Erie

If the weather is nice and you can keep you boat running a little later in the year Lake Erie can reward you with some real monsters.
Took the champ out last weekend for possibly the last time this year and we got this!!

My girlfriend got here first lake erie 7 pounder.
I am not sure who was more exicted me or her but what a fun day it was. Have a few pictures of fish in high 4's but this monster just dwarfs them.
Hoping we will get atleast one more day that is relatively warm where I can hook into one of these monsters myself.
We are very happy to say that we let her got to be caught again when she hits 8!!

I didn't see a 3rd champ out there on Sat, saw the walleye champ at the ramp - I was in the green champ 198. Fishing was okay - but the week before was ridiculous. We were only out half a day before the weather chased us off but it was a lot of double and triple headers. We never did manage a quad.

Erie in the fall is amazing and love the absence of boats. Got maybe 1 more trip in me. I'm a little medium core though - the hardcore guys stay out til the ice comes.

Awesome fish. I have just started fishing Erie - past two years now. A totally different experience than any other typical bass fishing. I have not yet had one of those days where 50 + smallies are boated, but will continue going every year until it happens. I got a handful of 3 lbers' in my few couple of trips so far. I can not imagine what those 7 lbers' are like. Some day - I'll get me one ! What a shame that a couple of 4 lbers' were the small ones

Yes it was the 3rd. And I remember seeing your champ. Is that a fish hunter? Really nice boat, I hadn't seen a walleye model like that in person. We got out late that day and caught a 4.5 and that 7 in the first 10 minutes. Funny at that first drift we were the only boat on that drift as everyone seemed spread out on the reef. When we went back up for another drift we had to cut through the boats to get back to our big fish spot.
We got close to 50 in the 4 hours we were out. Kind of wished we had of got out earlier.
This saturday isn't looking too bad to head out again but monday is looking really good. Might be sick on monday! LOL

Nice job Julie. Pete you had a good day to get out. They are few and far between, especially on weekends. This will be the last before I winterize and it doesn't look good. Oh well, time for her to sleep I guess.

    Re: (Erie Champ)

LOVE Erie in November & into December as long as weather permits!

My biggest Erie smallie to date is a 7lb-14oz'er!
Caught out of Presque Isle, Pa., back in 2004, on a 4" ISG tube in green pumpkin.
