    Another Newby

Just dropped in to introduce myself. I'm a retired carpenter, originally from Northern, Il. , now living in Guntersville,Al. I own a 2007 200 Elite. I have a Yammy 225 Hpdi, with a T-1 25 on the back, I've run it up to 71.5, that's fast enough for me, with a little throttle left, and it rides like a big old Caddy, going down the freeway. I really enjoy reading all the posts on this forum, I feel like I know most of you already. especially , some of the posts from Pat G. , I guess he knows more about Champs than anybody else, thanks Pat. Anyway, glad to join you, Good Fishing.

Re: Another Newby (08 198 Champ)

I'm from Joliet, fished up at Chain O' Lakes in the late 50's, even ice fishing then, when not many ice fished. Usually fished Lake Marie and Grass Lake. I fished a lot of the quarries around Joliet and Wilmington too. Heideckie Lake, Shabbona, Shelbyville, Sangchris Lake, south of Springfield in the winter, it was the first power plant lake to stay open in the winter. Otter Lake, Kankakee River backwaters for ice fishing. We caught huge crappies there in the winter, 13 & 14 inches, big for Illinois. I have some pictures of my boat on Shutterfly, but I can't seem to upload to this site. My buddy and I back then fished mostly out of an old 14 foot john boat & a really old silver and gray Evinrude 10 horse, we probably caught more fish out of that old boat than any other boat we had. We found an old Silvertroll trolling motor, the electric motor sat on top, and looked like an old washing machine motor. it's a wonder we ever caught anything with the noise that motor made. But we didn't have to row if the Evinrude didn't start, which was quite often. My, how things have changed.

Welcome!!!! Quite a few of us ,that belong to the older crowd, have discovered the much talked about ride and staying dry thing, they are only 2 of the features that our boats have to offer. On my 2nd and will not own nothing else. Glad you decided to let us get to know you. Look forward to your posts. Larry PS:Retired also (Narrow Back) In case others don't know, an Electrician
