Updating your Garmin's to latest software update, Mac hurdles

Garmin does a great job supporting Macs on many levels in a still PC dominated culture. No complaints here. However, when they provide system updates for your hardware there is only one option to get this completed once you download the update from Garmin's website. Garmin only offers .exe files to run to extract (uncompressed) their files. PC's are the only option to do this. Mac's can't do this on the native operating system. Your only option is to install Windows on your Mac (you can do this) or have a friend who has a PC to extract the files to be copied to a SD card or pay Garmin $29.95 and they'll ship you a SD card for your use. Although all work it is cumbersome if you are a Mac owner/user. Well me being a 20 year Mac owner I started explore if there was a work around to extract these files. I may have found a solution. What I need to confirm from my PC friends what files are on the SD card once you run the .exe file to extract the files to a SD Card from your PC. I found a Mac program called "File Juicer" that can extract files out the .exe file from Garmin and copy them to a SD Card. I could be real close to solving this for Macs. I just need to find out what files are extracted from the .exe file and copied to the SD Card.

Using Mac's "File Juicer" I get the following: I have a Folder called txt and another folder named URL.

Anyone if you have a PC and created updates can you share how the files are copied to your SD Card?

I have down loaded them numerous times through PC and once the garmin communicator plug-in is installed the program walks you through the process.
i also have a mac and will give it a shot today and see what is involved.

Hawgripper, Can you share the steps involved to do an update. At some point that would be a good sticky to have for current and future Garmin owners to reference.

Outstanding. I'd like to know what files are on on the SD Card after running .exe file.
